(1999 E39).

What's the EML warning light for (The manual's a bit vague !) ? Mine came on at the weekend shortly after start up, along with the ABS/ASC warning light. Had very little power for about a mile, then normality resumed and the lights went out. Been ok since.

Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,

EML is basically a fly by wire system. Put simply, there is no throttle cable betweem the loud pedal and the throttle butterfly. The fact that you had ABS and ASC lights also would suggest that there could be a fault in the Module that controls these or in a sensor whose input is required to make these systems function. It may be just a wheel speed sensor. The Throttle body end of the EML can give trouble, but not with your exact symptoms.

A code read of both the engine and abs/asc ecu'c should be your next move.
