Hi Folks, quick question about my wifes petrol e90 Bmw, clutch is acting up a little, its done 64k miles and its slipping a little, like most females shes always been hard on clutches, regardless of the make, im just wondering does the fly wheel need to be replaced or does that only have to be done on the diesels ? Its an 07 model .

Flywheel should only ever need changed if the clutch plate has been allowed to wear down below its minimum thickness.  This happens when the rivets that hold the friction plate together become exposed as the friction material has worn down around them.
 
You will never know until the gearbox is off the engine and the clutch is taken off.  By that time you are as well as fitting the new clutch obviously.
I don't think it is a petrol/diesel thing about machining the flywheel.
Its a hydraulic clutch so it might be worth checking and then bleeding the hydraulic fluid in the system before going down the expense of pulling off the 'box, just to rule out low fluid etc.
