i have recently bought a 2008 520d m sport with 2008-2 business sat nav dvd. I have enquired with BMW to upgrade to the 2013 version (7 digit postcode search). They told me that it would cost £182 +labour to upgrade. i can get an upgrade disc off ebay a lot cheaper but have read somewhere that i need an activation code to install it. Is this correct and if so any ideas where i can get one?  Beer

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You are correct.  These sort of upgrades need to be programmed into the cars brain.  Pretty much only a main dealer can do this.

For less than the price quoted, you can buy a Tomtom.  It's way better than any BMW Crapnav.
I know it's not built in and it defeats the purpose but it will be easier to use and more reliable and transferable into another car.
