Of the year.

I got an email through from hire car company at Schiphol this morning.

I was clocked at 107 kph in a 100 kph zone last week and they've hit me with a 47 euro fine, of course the hire company have their wee admin fee to which takes it to 67 euros.

Will need to be on my best behaviour, on the plus side no points invovled.

Think I still one more to come through, if and when this one comes in then that'll be 2 in the one day in different countries

They fined you for doing 7% over the limit?

FFS!

You would exceed 7% of the limit with a stiff breeze up your back, not much room for error there.

You would need to be doing over 72mph in a 60mph I think, to get a pull from plod over here and thats what 20% over the limit.

Harsh. AS per the lord advocates guidelines the procurator fiscal will not take to court anyone doing 39mph or under in a 30mph zone.
Not 100% sure for the leeway at higher speeds though.

Stevie, Did they trace you through the hire car company? We go through the Netherlands nearly every year driving to Germany in our own car.I was wondering if they can now catch up with you back in Scotland. We notice that the Dutch take very little notice of the speed limits on their motorways and since we have two bicycles on a towbar mounted rack we tend not to exceed 80mph and only have to go through one town on the way to the Mosel.

yes, fine came through hire company.

It was the A2 southbound from Schiphol towards Utrecht, there's a 19km stretch of 5 lane motorway with a 100kph limit and has average speed cameras so they obey that limit. I only found about the cameras after i'd been on the road and questioned my boss as to why they have a ridiculously low limit on a 5 lane road as opposed to the 120 limit on 2 lane roads

We will need to look up the warning sign for average speed cameras I suppose. All "double Dutch" to me!
