blowers aircon not working

hi guys i have a e39 525dse on a 02 plate,ive just been in the rain and got into the car put the blowers on full to demist it.all the lights on the controls are working everything looks as it should but the actual blowers are not working.does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? and if i have to remove the radio above it to check for any loose wires does anyone know how to remove it without damaging it?

your thoughts would be appreciated

IS that the hedgehog resistor packed in?  Otherwise known as the FSR?
 
Never happened to my E39 but it was a common problem on E39s.

ive been in touch with halliwell jones and they have a FSU in stock,£74.00!! you wouldnt happen to know if there is anywhere else to get one or is it a main dealer jobby. been on europarts but they dont have them. thanks for the help andrew

Sorry, FSU, I had, had a couple of beers by that time on Friday night when I wrote that.
 
Not sure about a source, try google as it was a common failure....sorry not much use.  Try looking at Shoguns posts in the How do do bit, I'm sure he found a link to how to do a diy fix.

you were right guys,got a fsu off ebay £25.00 dealer wanted £74.77 found a how to video on youtube and installed it after much swearing and fiddling about,it took me about 45 minutes to do,and hey presto it works.thank you for pointing me in the right direction

Reffiting is reversal or removal except swear in different places.Big smile
