Please can someone tell me if their foot rest to the left of the clutch on an E30 M3 is squidgy?

I didn't think mine was then I put some pressure on it and it deformed, but then 'popped' back like it had loads of underlay under it.

It's not damp, as I have heard various stories about rotten metal and wet feet!

I'm probably worrying over nothing, I hope.

Can be... because it's only actually held in place on the left side of the footrest. The right side just sits against the carpet.

In my car I've taken out all the carpets and underlay etc but left the footrest in, as a result mine bends down a bit under pressure as the right side has nothing to sit against... no big deal
