hi guys quick question about a spare wheel size for my 1989 325i cavertable,when i bought it,it had 17"tsw wheels on with no spare,can some one please tell me what size i need for a spare cheers.

It really depends what size wheels you intend to run on it, r u keeping the 17"s??
I should imagine 7.5x16 would def fit, so all smaller wheels will fir. Not sure if u can go bigger than that as spare - someone on here should know. Just one other point, the spare wheel acts as part of the rear impact protection - oh don't u also have to have one for MOT??? HTH, James ------------- Work Harder! The spare wheel well seems only to hold a 6.5" or less rim. I have a 15x7" and it causes the carpet to bulge a little. -------------

The spare wheel doesn't act as part of the impact protection. The wheel well might, as part of a crumple zone (akthough this too is very unlikely), but the wheel just happens to sit there. It is not fixed securely enough (if at all) to be of any use in a crash. Regarding the MOT, you don't have to have one to pass the test, but if you do have one, it needs to be suitable for the use it is intended for, and in good condition - i.e. no tyres doing a 'Kojak' impression. |

i managed to get a cosworth wheel from some where just to put in there when i got it,im sure that a 17" will not go in the boot,i'll try and get one from a breakers cheers guys,
