Nothing to do with our fine cars but hope it helps.
I have been getting a lot of marketing companies call my home number (ex directory)

This is an excellent service. We used to get loads of calls, almost always just as we were sitting down to eat dinner. Now we don't get any at all. Highly recomend it.

David

Thanks for this one, I've registered today.

I moved this from the M forum, as I thought it was more applicable here, and may possibly be seen by more people.

what about when you advertise your car for sale in one mag and the you have all the other mags ringing you and asking you to take out an ad with them as they have bigger readership, more coverage etc etc???

Spam is a real pain in ****. I keep getting viruses sent to me. My gilrfriend gets hard core porn, I don't know what sites she looks on!

also ensure your virus-scan engine is up to date as it is useless otherwise

Registering for the TPS online spoils the fun! When these pests ring you up, try the following as I have done in the past:

1. Sound really enthusiastic and ask them to hold while you get a pen, then just put the handset down by the side of the phone and replace it in half an hour (I often wonder how long they wait?).

2. When they try to sell you something cheaper than you supposed to be already paying say can I interest you in buying some BMW accessories. When they say they don't have a BMW, tell them you don't have a mortgage/gas/whatever but it didn't stop them trying, then hang up!

3. When they ask you for your security details, you ask them to confirm your password/mother's maiden name etc so you know that they are who they say they are. Of course they refuse saying they don't know who they are speaking to and then you can tell them the same thing and hang up (I did actually get one of them stupid enough to tell me my password - when I told them it was correct, they launched into their sales drivel not realising what they had done!)

4. Act completely weird - that one always freaks them out. It really confuses them if you don't go OTT - they can't make their mind up so tend to stick with it until they are sure.

Oh what fun we can have!!!!
