i am the proud new owner of a bmw 320i convertible e36 p reg 1996.having had the vehicle six months,where bmw have just supplyed and fitted a new short engine to my vehicle,and it drives like a scalded cat.having to keep the revvs down 4 the first 1000 miles.anyone got any ideas on what things should i watch or change on this vehicle.

Hello Nigella,hope you are enjoying your new car.

I also own a 320i,though it is a little older than yours (L reg),it is a great car and mine is currently reading 180000+ miles and yet it is still smooth and ultra reliable.

I don't main dealer service it though anymore,stopped it at 160k,I now get my servicing at Moseley Motorsport in Telford, Shropshire.

Sorry this post isn't full of technical doom and gloom,but in my experience I havn't had any.The worst and costliest job has been replacing the rear brake pipes as this involves alot of stripping to get at them.
