My 1985 635CSI automatic has a habit of beginning the day with a reluctance to engage top gear. Once it has warmed up it will begin to function normally and thereafter drive all day normally.

It will also improve if switched off for 30 secs after a mile and drive normally the rest of the day.

The gearbox was replaced less than 10,000 miles ago.

I have heard that the regulator at the rear can cause problems. If so, does the regulator sit outside the gear box? If it sits outside, is it accessible without dropping the box?

All ideas welcome.

Don't know much about the auto boxes technically other than i prefere a manual, but i would give Barney a call at Munich Legends. He knows his stuff and is always happy to give advice. Call him on 01825 740456.
