Hi,

Could anyone give me some contacts in Germany (or whereever) that specialise in E30 M3's. I want to buy an E30 M3 but there are next to none for sale in the UK so I'm willing to go to Europe to buy one.

Or even E30 M3 specialists in the UK who charge a fortune for these cars

Many Thanks

D

i was at munichs on sat saw the white one. loads of money but very clean and only 7,000 miles from new would almost be a shame to use it. Other than that they didn't seam to have many in stock is the supply of decent cars drying up?

This time last year i was trawling through auto trader and the net looking for an e30 m3 and there were loads advertised so i could basically pick a clour i wanted and look at only one colour.  There appeared to be fair few advertised in bmw car aswell. Eventually bought mine from an ad on this site but looked at a number of others before settling on mine.

This year however, it appears as though there are hardly any out there, where have they all gone?  Definitely appears to be drying up.  More enthusiasts buying now and holding on to their investments i suspect.

Independent still have 1 or 2 on their site...

http://www.independent-mc.co.uk/ - Independent

If it is not shown on the sales page with pictures, click for the full list (word doc) and the list contains more..

Some advise, do get an independent check on the car and if any works are needed to make the car 'perfect' for you, then get it in writing.

Some of the text in the word doc...

"BMW M3 coupe, 90/G, 215BHP, alpine white, grey cloth, factory sunroof, air conditioning, big board computer, adjustable suspension, just 48,000 miles f.s.h, original unmarked car, very rare now in this condition                                 £10500
BMW M3 coupe, 90/G, alpine white, full black leather, 16” alpina alloys, UK car with just 58,000 miles f.s.h,"

I have test driven none - I've only decided to buy one so gimme time! ;)

I would be looking to spend about £6000 but it seems as if this is far to little these days - their prices have gone crazy.  I remember looking a couple of years ago and you easily get a decent one for 6k and in Germany about £3k would have got you a decent enough one - but not anymore.

I havent checked prices for E30 M3's in a couple of years so is £6k not enough these days?  For £10k + I would not buy an E30 M3 - I think its a bit too much money. I realise that this may well be their value and am not denying that but I'd buy something else (like an Integrale or R32 Skyline etc - totally different cars I know but of a similar DNA - late 80's/early 90's race/rally inspired cars)

Although I see there is a very nice black one in the trader for similar to what I'd like to spend (6995 i think it was advertised for) so maybe not all is lost...

Rich...He hasn't tried to put others off purchasing. If he wants to spend his hard earned £10k on something else then it's fine with me.

I wouldn't spend £17k on the 7k miles one at ML but I'm sure somebody will.

Have you seen any that meet your criteria??

Only one so far. But the owner changed the price 3 times in as many months. Only he went UP rather than down. Was on eBay Last Novemeber for 1 price with no reserve (not that Id buy a car from eBay anyway and as it turned out not 1 person bid) then was £1000 more in a advert on a website. Then was £500 cheaper. Now its Back to a grand more than eBay price. Was also in a magazine for £500 less than the ebay, but I believe the seller when he says this was a mistake.

stevem3@ XXXXXX If your reading this drop it to the eBay price (dont give me that story about the wheels, they were in that sale too as I have a screen shot of the eBay advert!) and I'll come and have a deal with you.

Getting a bit desparate now

As for the putting people off, I was in a foul mood that week. As far as Im concerned theres a finite amount of cars in the country. I WANT to have first choice on a good one. Maybe Im taking it too seriously in that im in competition with them.

Hey Rich..No problem we all have bad weeks. I do hope you find the right car and it might not be much help but you are better off taking your time and getting one your are happy with. If you just buy one for the sake of getting one you will probably end up regretting it.

I sure the right car will turn up for you.

Best Wishes

I was looking to replace my other M3 E30 as 2 LHD cars was unfair on me girlie. Sold the cheaper M3 and was going to get an R32. Had a passenger ride in one and was a big heavy car and seem to take ages to come to life. Never got one, got the C36 instead.

My point all the R32's i saw were no where near the condition of my M3. Like the M3 and R32 you are paying for the history and the cheapest R32 in shoddy condition was about £8k. You would need to spend near 13k for one in equal condition of mine. Pound for pound an M3 is better value alround IMO. Cheaper insurance, fuel, maintenance and more nibble and fun to drive.

You can get a rough one for £3k, for tracking, a fair one for £6k and an great one for £10k. All depends what you want from thr car. As there aren't that many prices will be higher.

I’d agree that availability seems to have dried up over the last year. UK owners with good examples know what they’ve got and now won’t be in a hurry to sell.

The weaker pound has restricted imports over the last few years and inevitably as these cars have got that much older and higher mileage as each year passes it simply becomes no longer cost effective to import. Occasionally something really special will turn up worth importing (mint Sport Evo etc,) but the rest of the time is it really worth trawling around Germany or wherever in the hope of finding a bargain? That said if you have time to make a holiday of it good luck with the search. Don’t forget the Germans are quite keen on these cars too and prices have stiffened in Germany as well in the last couple of years.

The Integrale is always on most purchasers’ alternative list but I suspect you’ll have similar problems finding a good one.

215M3 I was interested to read your comments on the Skyline R32. I wonder if the car you drove was a little out of sorts? I haven’t driven one myself so can’t really comment.

That's Codheads car.  Was on there a while ago.  IS he having trouble selling it?   What's his reserve?  Are you out there to answer these questions?

I thought it looked familiar. There is another one on Autotrader but something doesn't feel right about. I can't put my finger on what it is, apart from the obvious error in the limited edition number.

Note I didn't say these are 'direct competitors' or whatever but personally I believe they have similar 'DNA' (for want of a better word). The M3 and Integrale were rallied & the M3 and Skyline were circuit raced during their respective heydays in the late 80s and early 90s. All have character and pedigree. And what I was saying if I end up having to spend £10k on an E30 I'll have to consider those other 2 cars as possibilities (as I've always wanted an Integrale and a Skyline) When most people are buying a car and if they have a couple of possibilities they don't have to be the exact same type of car - if you were limiting your choices with this rational then the only direct competitor for an E30 M3 would be a cossie Merc 190. But I am just limiting my choice to the $$$ I have to spend - it can be 2 or 4WD, 4 or 6 (or even 8) cylinder, turbo or normally aspirated - I don't care as long as its fun to drive. I have drive an Integrale & it felt brilliant but have never driven (never even saw one!) an R32 Skyline (I'm from the N of I ) but the E30 is my first choice. I also feel an E30 (and prob Ingegrale but not the R32) would be a sort of investment as they seem to have stopped depreciating?

Hi Fellas
Yes it is my car, I put it on last month because I am moving house. Then decided to take it off and try and afford to move without having to sell it. But needs must at the moment so i'm selling again. Don't really want to but maybe I'll be able to afford another one when I'm about 60. Reserve is not that far off the start price, if your interested let me know.

This time last year i would have bitten your arm off as it looks stunning and having read the description on ebay several times i was well impressed.  Unfortunately, if i bit your arm off now you would find it difficult to move!!

Good luck with both tho

That's mine. It's already at the reserve price, so from this point on I don't mind how much I get for it. I have to say I'm delighted with the way the auction is going soi far. My wife and I have separated in the last week, so the M3 (at 'her' house) is being sold. I've got the 911 with me at 'my' house! I would have put it for sale on this site, but don't have my membership number handy...

It's not the best E30 M3 ever, but it's spot on for the money. Probably better than the price suggests. (ie it's not a £10k car, more like a £6k car)

I know what you mean when you say you wouldn't buy a car off ebay, but I see it simply as a way of advertising the car. The buyer will still come and see the car etc.

rob, your car looks outstanding for the money!

But with ebay, once they win, they have to buy!

I bet your car will go for over 6k to be honest!

Rob,

I would have to say that ANYONE who is looking for an M3 would be foolish to not have at least looked and considered yours (and I'm not saying this because it looks like mine!). There seems to be, as mentioned previously, a shortage of decent honest etc. etc. and yet here's one!

All the best with the sale.
