Subject: Wing Mirrors Question

I got my car back on Sat after not having it for 5 days and noticed the drivers side wing mirror was in the opposite direction as to what I remember.  What I mean is the aspherical section of the mirror is on the inside and I thought it was on the outside.  Passenger side is on the outside and the manual says it should be on the outside.

I removed the glass section to see if I could swap it round but th wires for the heater are only short enough that it will not let me.

Can I ask anybody to check theirs and get back to me and let me know what way there drivers mirror is mounted?  I could swear the magnified section was on the outer side.....

magnified section is on outside - i.e. 3/4 of mirror is normal and towards driver whilst 1/4 is magnified and on outside

thanks.  looks like I might have to take the glass out of the mounting to get this right.  Still can't understand how it happened.

Why was the car away? bodywork/damage/service? ask the garage/dealer if they have a reason.

The mirrors with the magnification on part of the glass should really only be on the outside of the glass to help with blind spots that normal mirrors suffer from. My passenger side mirror (left) was one of the total area magnified glass ones when i bought it which made using the bloody thing nigh on impossible, I soon replaced it with normal blue tinted one from the breakers and can actually see cars that are not right next to me :).

This is a good one.  I took off the mirror and had a look at the date/stamp on the back on the mirror for the manufacture date and it was made in Oct 03.  I bought the car in Sep 03 and I know I didn't buy a new one.  So some nob head with his new car got a back to front mirror and swapped it with mine in the last week.  Too much hassle now to go back to the garage and ask questions.  I'll spend 5 mins tomorrow making the wires 2" longer and get it sorted myself.  What some people will do and this guys car would have been in warranty....
