Guys,

How do you fancy trippng to Dastek one day and get the cars on the rollers. The S14 gys (as per this month's F&M) showed they had a good time. gerry @ Dastek was v.keen.

If we can get 10-20 or so together then it would make a grand day out and material for your next column Wendy..

Scottish region should fare well again in next month's mag as Jeff H submitted a second article for 'Z Power', which includes pics from Neil.

If you're just meaning a RR day, then I could be keen on that

Pick a date that doesn't conflict with an existing event and let me know if you want anything stuck on the website.

Cheers

Dastek is in Dalgety Bay.

Costs for RR days vary from £20-40. I'm sure Jon will confirm when he's had a word with Gerry.

What's good is that Gerry is very techy and gives advice about how to improve output as well as their equipment being vert exact.. probably the best in Scotland and one of the best in the UK.. these guys provide a lot of the equipment to other tuners..

Once I've got an idea of number and I'll chat to Gerry on the 18th..

Rog (aka Admiral) had his M Roadster in this month's Fast & Modified and got 331bhp - beating a TSL tuned Scoobie...

Do I need an Invite for this, of can I nip along with the bairns toy?

Fantacker loons, I am home 'til August, but still not going to make Gaydon this year . Aye CK, thats my pay-back for working away for 4 1/2 months, 2 1/2 off! Woohoo, summer here I come! I feel a few tree up-rootings coming on!

So Jon, you can count me in on this one.

Looks like SS-R needed to secure a minimum of 20 and a max of 25 members to get it down to GBP 20.00 a head payable on the day (for a full day)

We could enquire if we had that many attending if the price would be the same ?

With 8 names already on this thread, I would hope that we could get sufficient numbers to secure a day at someone's premises - be it DASTEK, AVA or Star.

If a date is set then James can punt out an eMail and if we have enough notice, Gary can get an article in the club mag / Straight 6.

Next Official events are 27/6, 25/7 and 22/8. How about an RR day in early August? Is it any cheaper to go in the evening? I know that a lot of the costs for the weekend visits are to cover staff costs...

Update: The only weekend date now on is 31/07/04.

Dastek's really looking at 20 cars at £25 per car for a Saturday, this is 2 runs, with a laminated graph of power/torque & AFR.

Evening session would only need 10 cars at £25 per car, could be any Wednesday night from the 28th of July onwards, with the exception of 25/08.

Unless it's after 7.30 pm - work is too unpredictable,  don't normally get home till after 7pm even 8-9 pm if it's a bad day anfd there's no rhyme or reason as to what days this happens

Aye, me too, and I don't take my car to work as I'm in Edinburgh city centre. I'd have to finish *early* get a bus home then get back out again. Probably too tight. I'm sure you'll still get 10 easy though.

I would be up for this during the week in July as long as its after the 11th, due to holidays.

I'll just keep an eye out on how this pans out, and if I can make it along then great.

I'm due to get the get the car remapped on the 14th July at the moment so the rolling road would be great.

A reputable guy from another forum is flying up to do it for me at Edinburgh Airport. Once he gets fixes the date, currently aiming for 14th, then I think he might look to be looking for more customers to make his trip more worthwhile. j

No, I believe hes a tuning concept dealer. He always points you towards http://www.tuning-concept.de/ - www.tuning-concept.de/ for info.

Hes been very helpful and has gone out his way to arrange this.

Hes an active member over on another forum and has lots of very good feedback from guys who hes remapped. Am I allowed to refer to the 'other' website?

Hes just confirmed hes going to be in Edinburgh on 14.07.04 between 8am and 6pm.

The .de website is dreadful - doesn't offer much in the way of info

I'm interested in chipping my VW and Edinburgh would suit me just fine if the technology and price were right... can you drop me a note of the chappie's eMail by PM?

Go on, what's the other site?

I will be remapping CJ's car on the 14th July at Edin airport. I will be landing around 8am and leaving at 6pm.

For the cars that I can do and the power increase check the link.

http://www.tuning-concept.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/carlist.xls - http://www.tuning-concept.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/carlist.xls

I only re-map through the cars diagnostic socket so there is no soldering or dismantling of the car. We always take a copy of the standard map before we apply the modified map so you can revert to standard if needed. A 12 month warranty is given on the map should a fault occur. Each car takes around an hour to remap which includes taking a copy of the original software.

I have been remapping cars from the e36coupe and bmwland forum for a while now with excellent results on both petrols and diesel cars.

If anyone has any questions please send me an email at mailto:hall@tuning-concept.com - hall@tuning-concept.com

Having considered the pros and cons of non-dynameter mapping I'd still opt for a proper stand-a-lone or piggy with proper mapping on a rolling road, which can control both induction and exhaust temp.

Before anyone commits to re-chips or re-maps they should have a chat with Gerry @ Dastek first. I'd be surprised that any company could beat a top end re-map that can take easily 4-5 hrs @ Dastek.

Most re-chips install a new flash/program based on another car. On the other hand a lot of re-maps do so in less that desirable conditions and are not as finely tuned.

About 400-500 all in Tigger and the uni-chip gives you the option of further maps. I'd heartily recommend it over off-the-shelf chips. Andif Dastek don;t get you more power then none of these chips will either.. but Dastek will actually remove the install and refund you if Gerry is not satisfied with the gains. Speak with Gerry before committing to any other makes.
