Just bought myself a new 330ci. I fancy unleashing some of the straight six noise. Does anyone know if an cone filter and heatshield kit will do this?

Also, what other effects will this produce? Any where in Edinburgh that would supply?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard

If it's just the noise you're after then a cone filter should do nicely. Foam based for a bit of extra bass, paper based for that rasp. Carnoisseur or Ripspeed are both in Edinburgh.

Don't know of anyone who'll also be able to get the heatshield tho... for the heatshield look at mail order from the USA or I think a helpful chappie on e36coupe.com was developing his own which he was then planning to market. Some folk have also gone DIY with bits from B&Q or by butchering a spare OEM airbox.

Heatshielded kits such as the BMC CDA or PiperX Viper are nowhere near as loud as the open types.

Duncan

I done my own cone and heatshield and do plan to sell a few but I want to get it completely finished when I've got time!!

Its on the car at the moment but needs plastic coating and a proper pipe fabricating for the slight bend whic the cone attaches to. i've got a stainless steel air filter which gives it a more metalic bark than the cotton or foam ones.

If you look at my sig below you can see it.
