I have an E30 320i Auto, when I start it up, the engine revs itself before settling. Sometimes it revs itself so much the econometer moves eratically and in some cases the car stalls.
I've had it to my local specialist who recomended a rolling road test. It went to Allwyn Kershaws at Stamford Bridge who said it was running within tollerences (hot and cold starts) but the test was limited since its an auto. It seems worse in the cold. I have a pipercross kit added but was doing it before it was fitted.
Any ideas as I'm a bit stumped.

POssibly a sticking Idle Control Valve. Take it out and give it a good cleaning with carb cleaner.

Thanks, garage did that a while ago, did improve until I drove away when it blipped and went back again. Probably unlucky and got it blocked straight away. I'll try it again and hopefully this will cure it.
