Aha I hadnt noticed this thread !

Yes as already mentioned I'm an electronics eng ( one of the old ones that replaces components rather than just boards).

The bits of software I do came later, (and dont compare to the stuff Killian and the like do), as electronics people working in the industrial side of things gradually had to be more involved in this as a lot of "control solutions" are now software based.

Even simple motor controllers are now set via a laptop, rather than by monitoring circuits with your scope and adjusting trimmers, replacing resistors etc.

I was also a part time plod for years ( a special constable, although my mates used to remove the "stable" bit ! ), I left this as when I went self employed I didnt have the time needed to devote to it, and they actually pay them now, typical !!

In my spare time now, when I'm not editing you lot, I promote and observe (teach) advanced driving with the IAM ( there are other advanced driving organisations, not all as stuck up as the IAM ).

With the growing numbers of "fuzz" on here I could be looking at getting more help in persuading you lot to do the advanced driving bit.

Just been catching up with this one....for so many people who work in IT, its little wonder that the threads grow like they are on steroids...least we all know exactly what you get up to all day long  lol

In respect to advanced driving, 5 yrs of plodding across Europe in a 44 tonne artic is about as much 'advanced' as I want...not to mention the numerous cross-country jaunts with a convoy of towercrane bits, sorting out police escorts for portakabins etc....

I will miss the open road soon though, giving up driving will be hard to do, but there you go, at least I have some funny..and sad...memories...
