I'm thinking of buying an E36 328 from 1996-8.

I believe that there are problems with the alloy block concerning sulphur in fuel causing premature wear.

Can someone elaborate on this issue - how can I make sure I avoid such problems, what is the cure, what did BMW do about this etc.

Thanks.

Sam.

Bmw had a huge recall on the 328 to replace the blocks.

i bought a 95 328i and had heard of the same thing about the engines being recalled......  the car i was looking at had full dealer service history, so i got in contact with all the dealers who had serviced the car and they were able to look up any work that was done to the car by them selves......   and there it was a replacement block done at no cost, also there was a radiator exspansion bottle and the steering lower shaft.....
