Hi,

I have recently acquired a J reg, E36, 325 petrol 5sp auto, and have noticed an oddity.

When driving at a constant speed/revs, the MPG gauge ticks continually left/right approx 1-2mm, and moves more, the higher the revs. Since I have noticed this, the engine noise also sound to increase/decrease at he same time(although I am probably getting paranoid and hearing things!!)

Before going to the local BMW garage to check this out, I thought I would ask the experts their opinion on whether this is normal, or there i something actually wrong.

The car itself seems fnie to drive.

Thanks for your help

Chris

Have you checked for a bad earth connection? - had a similar problem on a previous motor and that was the cause.
