Welcome aboard Yodi.
For your indicators, most aftermarket places (even Halfords ![]() Power / engine wise I know of a 325i running Alpina Chip, Schrick 272/272, M30 AFM, FSE PBV which was reckoned to be about the 200/210bhp mark. Sure a good SS exhaust wouldn't hurt either. A few folk on this board reckon an induction kit is a flat out no-no for this car. HTH, Duncan |

I believe that Euro Car Parts & German & Swedish do clear indicators. Engine modification? Try a freeflow air filter (either a panel filter which fits into your existing air box or an induction kit which replaces your existing filter housing). If you search the forum, you will see that these have been discussed widely before. |

Just further to Webdunk's comment about the induction kit - some of those who say they are a definite no-no would recommend the panel filter.

Induction kits are reported to suffer particularly badly from 'hot air induction' on these cars - effectively sapping power.
IIRC Standard power is 170bhp. Worth a wee read |

Cheers mate,
so an induction kit would be ok if we made a protective heatshield for it? |

Basically, I have not heard / read any positive feedback for induction kits on the E30 325i.
That said, I run a heatshielded induction kit in my E36 328i and I certainly don't believe I've lost power. IMHO, yes, if you heat-shielded the induction kit I would think you would either maintain the status quo or increase power - it's just my opinion is refuted by the experience of a number of board users. In short there are probably better things to spend your money on if you're after wringing some more performance out of your 325i... |

chip firstly email chips@e30zone.co.uk to get one. The FSE boost valve set to standard fuel pressure will not really give you any gains as such but it will make is feel better up the top end, stops it leaning out like the standard one tries to. Induction kit, i've played around with them for a while, they sound nice and if you shield it properly then if shouldn't give you the hot air problems but they make for rough running from cold, and they change the torque curve of the car quite dramatically, you will find that the power will come much higher up the rev range, this is ok if you like to thrash it all the time but for relaxed cruising and quick mid range acceleration you want to keep the standard airbox and fit a panel filter (k&n etc) make sure you leave the plastic trumpet inside the box as this is how the midrange torque is created.

Have a read of this months Total BMW (Came out today). They have an article on a tuned 325 e30 running about 200BHP which looks both easy to do and reliable.

Just to add my wee bit to this induction kit issue. I have a Ram air inducton kit and a Blue Peter stylee ally boxed heatshield. Good to see another MK1 enthusiast M8 We used to build one offs with the old MK1's. We had an original RS BDA1800, a mad mental RS2000 with No2 and toyed with a 4 wheel drive conversion!!! That was fun I'll tell you!! Are you going to use the RS500 lump in your MK1 or will it just be the standard cossie? Loads of work to make the car handle 200 - 220BHP if it's a standard chassis!! Even more if it's 450 - 500bhp Rob Edited by Madrab |
