Spokey, why make your car look like something it's not?

Isn't that the same as putting an M3 badge on a 318?

Who says I'm just doing the graphics? You can still get a lot of the real Alpina bits, and I'm watching ebay all the time for engines and transmissions.

The alpina style graphics just look a bit naff on all apart from the late seventies and early eighties stuff like the E21, E12, E28 etc. All the later cars just don't suit it somehow.

The last one is by far the least bad, but that front bumper looks poo as do the naff gold graphics

I'm sure someone will disagree but then like I said beauty is in the eye of the beholder

I've never ever heard someone say that an Alpina wasn't tasteful.

Some of the Alpinas from the 70s and 80s were far from tasteful. Very bright colours and stupid graphics.

Like I said tasteful depends on who's looking

Mmmmm, Z1 yes please.

It now bears more of a resemblance to an E28, don't you think? This is how BMW should have made it look in the first place, imo.

Why start a new thread -- there's one right here.

I don't mind people fiddling with their cars (especially if they use Alpina bits!), but those two mods just deface the cars. I've even  considered buying some of the modified cars I've seen on ebay, but I think the problem I have with both of these cars is that they are mixing effects from different generations, the first one looks a lot like an E28 light cluster to me and the second one has grafted an organic shape onto a boxy one -- it just doesn't work.

I've often had doubts about the styling of the Z1, it looks a bit "hairdresser-y" to me. However, that all goes away when I get behind the wheel. Probably just like the owners of both these abominations.

Here's one that's been tastefully tarted up -- I quite like it! And one day, I will buy one.

Don't get you guys. Who cares? someone has different taste to you. Wow!

Personally I think the Z1 looks rubbish, so I wouldn't buy one. I wouldn't start a thread just to mock an owner though..............................although maybe I should, Spokey

No, the bumper works well on the more organically shaped E46,I think. But it looks completely out of place on a boxy E30. I'd have to see it on an E36 to see if it worked on an E36. I suspect it might work better on that than the E30.

THAT'S what I was thinking of...... it looked kinda familiar in a 'I know what it is but can't quite tell' sort of way. Cheers Horsey.
