i aim to please With reference to stickers for gaydon, even a url type sticker would be beneficial over no stickers. Once the logo is designed then i can look at producing them asap. Just to add, i have just recieved a lovely bit of toilet paper from bmwcc!

I got the same little letter through my door today.
I would like to know what forums they visited that everyone was using there real name on. lol. Also I would like to know what club forums they went to that only paying members can post. I belong to 2 VW forums, and Porsche Club of GB and none of them require you to be a paying member before posting (unless they have changed in the last few days that is)
Oh well. Better off with out them and K I have to say, Excellent Job on the forum. Looks wonderful and nothing appears to have been lost

I'm part of a few forums myself, which are free, jon44w is a large car site, it recieves money to pay for the site by people buying things like T-Shirts, Fleece & Stickers aswell as DVD's. NI-BMW is another forum i'm part of, good wee site, it is basically free, last year we were charged a membership fee, which helped to pay for the site. I havn't recieved this letter as I never paid 35 to join the club, which would be a bit of a waste IMO, as I don't drive, and I don't attend any of the shows in england or enter a car, and I only use the forum, so why should we pay to use it? Kbannon is doing a damn good job of keeping this place going, and should he ask for money, then i'll see if I can rob a post office or some place!

did anyone notice abouthow jeff said int eh letter how people were coming on the forum, signing on with nicknames rather than real names and flaming people
funny really because i remember him doing that
and why should they know my password if i want to be on their forum
why not just let you sign on, and then they can check your name and membership number are correct before activating your account
if i have to give out password to anyone then i'm not gonna sign up, no way

RE: passwords, I think they are doing this as we poited out that non-club members could sign in as a club member if they knew someones name and membership number. It's suprising how many people have posted their details in the past.

Have anyone had emails off Richard baxter and Mike Fishwick through Jeff giving their support for him - I read in Richards that K shouldn't have had the forum under him and "hold the club to ransom". I'm sorry but if it's K's money that pays for the site and the running of then damned right he should be the owner of it, really has sod all to do with the club. Rant over...

For 35 quid I would figure enrollment in their forum would be automatic.

I am betting that will work out in the end though. From the sounds of it they didn't really use legal channels to accomplish it.

well i said it all along , i havent been on the boards long enough to decide to become a member but am glad i never , and k and the gang your doing a top job , and the club will be lost without your forum ..
K , i know your upset about the domain , but to be honest i think the new one is ten times easier to remember , and it will look great as a sticker , if i spotted it on a car , 'bmw board.co.uk' is ten time easier to remember than 'bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/default.asp'
so everyone else get some stickers etc or something to publish the new forum when your at gaydon , and just sit back K and see the amount that registers to the forum ... cos the last week is gonna be the biggest talk at the show this year , and no doubt most will want to here the other side of the story ,
so an A4/5 counter leaflet could be an idea , explaining your side and your Original bmw forum should people ask at the show ( i know your not goin ) but others could pass them out 'if asked ' becasue peolpe are down right nosey and its an easy chance to get some more recruits ..

KB. If you want to go along to Gaydon I have a false beard and stuff you can have and I'm sure we could find you a BMW from somewhere!

I rec my letter yesterday. I was somewhat suprised that it didnt match even the 'clubs' version of events as posted! As a marketer i couldnt have done better myself! I can only imagine what those members who do not use the site think now. Still, onwards and upwards!
