Duncan, There all some way away (so not an easy solution) but i think it would be worth a chat with the respected specialists like Old Colonel Cars, WLN and Munich Legends to see if any of them would facilitate a commision sale. Alternatively take it to Gaydon with a for sale sign on?

Like your thinking Pete... £6k is the pessimistic estimate and leaves a LOT of (standard E36) parts unaccounted for. |

I had been wondering about that in the context of 4StarClassics... |

Also Classic Heroes. This is now own and run by Barney Hasle who was the previous owner of ML.
As said above mate, the car is too good to frag, although I fell your pain with regards to no callers. The logistics would be more hassle than I could be bothered with. I would persist with the sale until, as big Stuff suggests, Gaydon and see whay happens then, if your financial situation allows. Probably telling my granny how to suck eggs here, but have you advertised it on bmwland, gumtree, ebay, bmwcarshowroom.com, e36coupe etc. If only I had the dough mate. I'll try and talk my brother into it |

It would be a shame to break it. Out of the other 31 cars on the road, what have they sold for? Is 8k a fair price for it? |

In my opinion, it's undervalued at £8k - sadly that's just my opinion. Less well kept cars have gone for £6500-£7500 so £8000 doesn't feel in any way outrageous. As I said, my pessimistic sums suggest £6k+ broken so how much more is a car worth whole than in bits? 2 other GT owners have been in touch letting me know they have agreed insurance valuations north of £11k. Gary has suggested that the UK is obsessed with age/mileage rather than condition; I reckon that's a factor. |

I Agee your car is under valued. Im not blowing sunshine up your asre
but yours is in better condition than my brothers and probably the best in the country at the moment. My brother sold his for £9000. His was a LHD mind so had a larger Market. There is a bias in this country to mileage over condition. When I was trying to sell mine any British callers were a bit worried with regards to the mileage. However the couple of European callers were more interested in the condition and restoration. I think the uncertainty in the jobs Market is a factor at the moment. It will we'll mate but as seen it will take time. Just wait it out Edited by gary |

Paul and I have just finished breaking up an E46 318 and we made a good return on it but it was a bit of a hassle having neds round my house collecting stuff and dealing with lots of idiots from down south trying to bid for parts. Also a hassle parceling things up and posting them away but for us it was the only way to recoup the monies from the car. Now we have to get rid of a shell. It would be a real shame to break up your car. |

I suspect if I put the B8 on the market just now it would be lucky to reach £8k here. Sad but true. It has only 70k miles on the clock and was the Frankfurt show car. Perhaps across the Channel the B8 could fetch over 15k but with a RHD GT you don't really have that option.
No offence Dunk but you know the Alpina is the ultimate E36 so where does that leave everything else? I reckon the market hasn't even bottomed out yet but that's a reflection of the economy rather than the cars. If it's a 'must sell' situation then that's a pity. My inclination would be to store it till things improve. Breaking it would be criminal. |
