Yes, very convenient, especially as it helps make his point about how cars are better than public transport. While I agree with this point, when you have to use a 170k Ferrari and drive as fast as he was it's a bit daft. There supposed to be reviewing the new 1 series next week so we'll have to see how if fairs, especially considering JC's recent comments in the Times. Oh and I remember stig of the dump.

Apparently he gave it 1 out of 5. It has been discussed in this topic: http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_posts.asp?TID=12519&a mp;PN=1

If it hadn't been for the WCUK bus and train service at the start, JC would have been beaten hands down. There is nothing more integrated than Swiss public transport. It just.....works! |

Think it should be called 'Jeremy Clarkson's Top Gear' after all, didn't all the origional cast decide to leave 'cos they couldn't stand him and his 'I want I want, and if I don't get I'll stamp my feet' attitude?

JC, a man that thinks Saabs are stupid, because you have to put them in reverse before taking the ignition key out. Best anti-theft device ever made I say.
Dozy twonk forgot to take it out of gear before starting, best laugh I've had in a while. |

It's not just the Swiss, either. My parents have been to several european countries and they have been very impressed with the public transport. It's just a shame that ours is such a joke.

Tis true, its all down to infrastructure tho, and ours mustnt have been planned all that well, many moons ago. Hitatchi bullet train, perfect example, look how many countries use it, and how low the accident rate / high the efficiency is compared to our rubbish stop n start jobbies. Think we should all move out, nuke the place and start over. Not quite "cost effective" enough tho eh? and before you say it, yes HT - This is more of me speaking crap (as usual) |

Well, we might still have a useable infrastructure if they hadn't started cutting it all back in the late Fifties and throughout the Sixties in the name of, er, efficiency - and it wasn't all down to Dr. Beeching, either. We lost a number of useful major or alternative routes, amongst them: ex-Great Central ex-Midland and Great Northern (i.e. East Anglia) The Waverley Route (which is now the subject of a partial reinstatement project!) The Woodhead Route (all gone by 1981) The Didcot, Newbury and Southampton The Somerset and Dorset
Notwork Rail - when it absolutely, positively, DOESN'T have to be there on time. Or at all. |

The "rule" that says, " 'i' before 'e' except after 'c' " is one of the English languages biggest misquotes. The full quote should read, "When the sound rhymes with 'b', it's 'i' before 'e' except after 'c'." Operate this rule and it works pretty well, and accounts for words like "efficient", "lenient", "convenient", "twistier" etc. etc. Edited by m3Cecotto |

Because we are too busy posting on bmw forums ... Got a funny internal email a few months back, from the chief environment officer saying the met office had released some figures that indicated over 3/4 of the leaves had already fallen off the trees, and it was only a few weeks into autumn. I think his underlying point was, "were going to have to think of a new excuse now boys" |

We just learned that they spent 500,000 on the Gallup organisations Q12 - Employee Engagement Survey. (very american) This is where we all get a letter with a unique pin number, we then have to ring a call centre and tell them how strongly we agree/disagree to 12 statements/questions. Totally confidential I must add. First statement is "I enjoy working for Network Rail as a company" or something to that effect .... press 5 if you strongly agree .... 1 if you disagree, etc. Third statement; "I have a best friend at work" ... eh?????? |
