Wasn't it also down to the British Steel strikes of the early 1980's that also caused some seriously bad bodies to come from Ford and the other manufacturers?

Cheaper imported steels that weren't the same quality of ours?

Serious question amongst all this mirth.....

WASPS

How do you get rid of a wasp nest that is about 30ft long and 10ft wide and that is underground, please?

I got one this big behind my chalet, the little so'n'so's keep digging holes in the ground to reach their warrens and they are very stroppy too.

Any ideas, please?

Soil is mainly sand and very soft.

Are there no pest control services on the Isle of Wight?

Ally

This might be of help

Wasp nests are used for one breeding cycle and wasps never return to a nest once the queen has flown away.

Contact the Environmental Health Department of the Isle of Wight Council on 01983 823000. They should be able to deal with the problem for you at a reasonable cost.

Thanx Kevin, shall give them a call in the morning.  The council doesn't advertise their pest control section very openly.  The cost will have to be spread amongst all the chalet owners which, thankfully, I only rent mine.

Problem solved, methinks.

This just leaves me with the problem of whether to have my exhausted exhaust replaced in stainless steel....

I thought from your post about this that you were just going to get the two sections welded back together again as it was just the joint that has failed. If the rest is ok then that would be the most cost effective.

How much is a full stainless system?

You'd better look at my posting again, as I have added two rather telling photos of what I've found underneath. Would it still be worth bodging a repair?

the grass is so high, the sea air can't get near the car at the moment.

I hope I won't have to send the car to the big carpark in the sky, but if it doesn't go soon, I may have no alternative
