StuB and a some of the Zed guys are out having blast with some of the Pistonheads lot.

And there was the BMWCC regional AGM yesterday in Leeds.. some folks are unable to do 2 events in one weekend.

Nick

All of which is perfectly understandable Nick.  As I said, it was made tongue in cheek.  Perhaps a smiley or two would have emphasised that in retrospect.

Nonetheless, what it did not warrant was the tirade of total fiction it received.

Chris, I won't attend any of these 'spirited driving' days for a couple of reasons:-

  • I think its risky that arrangements and routes are discussed quite openly on a public forum - it's all there for anyone to see.
  • I've read most of the post event comments to most of the previous trips, and have to agree with a point that Andy made - it's quite obvious (regardless of who is leading) that the events become nothing more than a race on a public road. If there's an accident - and we've had these before on a 'non-spirited driving' day - apart from the people involved, have you considered your position as the organisor?

All this has now become the norm and I don't think you realise how exposed you've become.

I also don't understand these comments about the NorthEast. As Nick says, the Regional AGM was held yesterday. Shouldn't the question be why didn't certain people attend that, rather that why wasn't this 'spirited driving' event better attended?

Well, I went yesterday Nick. 170 miles on the damp and greasy A1. Quite happy to go, and I'll not mention how 'spirited' the drive was.

Blimey I don't log on for a few weeks and all hell breaks lose ! Ok I feel I should have my 2 penneth. I never complained about the Seahouses run, prefering instead to keep my thoughts to myself, because like Chris said no one forces people to "thrash" their cars. However I did feel that people got left behind, I'm talking me and BillGates at least, (were there others ? ).

This did make me less than enthusiastic to repeat the experience, and so did not attend the last one (perhaps others thought the same ? ). Nothing against Chris if he wants to organise this kind of run, but I much preferred the Keilder run for 2 reasons. 1) It was all BMW's, and the buzz from seeing peoples faces as we passed them, a large convoy of BMW's   2) The pace was fine and no one got left behind.

Chris you headed this run and you must admit no one did get left behind.

I've nothing against the Audi lads and meeting them was good, but on a run I prefer to be with all BMW's and as will attend such runs in the future.

Well thats it, no malice or harsh words, just an expression of prefferance, which at the end of the day is what we are all entitled to !Thumbs Up

This didn't start out as a go at Coasting though several people have expressed concern at a higher than comfortable pace, notably at the Kielder run which somehow ended up lost in Corbridge. For that very reason some have never attended another club run.

My remarks about "Wacky Races" was tongue-in-cheek but it seems only Coasting is allowed to do that.

And in my defence about leading the group from Holy Island, I was in 2nd gear!

I'm working on another Drive 'N' Dine right now so watch this space.

Andy, don't forget to run this past the Regional Events Co-ordinator.

Cheers
