Fitted by Viper2 chip this evening, and I have to say it's made a huge difference. The pull a lot more strongly through the midrange (1700 - 4000, and is also more responsive. I haven't had chance to put it through it's paces properly yet (traffic was pretty crappy tonight) but will try tomorrow

Same place as you! Thanks for the advice, Motorsportworld £424. It all came in a lovely big box and saved me £70 quid or so off the price of Euro Car Parts including delivery to N.I. I'm getting a few bushes, spring pads and the droplinks replaced at the same time. Can't wait.

Hello ChippedUk. I'm potentially interested in one of your fine-sounding chips.
I have a small query though. What kind of warranty do you offer on your work?
By that I mean if you fit a chip to my car and the engine later fails due to a problem with running too lean and burning holes in pistons, or running too rich and causing bore wash and piston ring failure do you guarantee to replace my engine?
I understand all of your chips must be mapped on the relevant vehicles on a rolling road under numerous conditions, temperatures, loads etc and have undergone countless R&D tests and revisions but I just want to cover my back. After all I'd want to make sure you were completely covered for such an eventuality. As I'm sure you're aware of the cost from the BMW dealer of replacement M-Power engines.
After all, there are some unscrupulous people out there who are earning money out of unsuspecting people with little more than a laptop, a rough understanding of Eprom programming and a chip burner.
Kind regards.

I like the post ste.
I guarantee my chips are perfect but as your well aware, people can have there cars running rich or lean due to other factors.
The proof on the rolling road events show the chips work perfectly but yes, i do guarantee my goods.
If you find ANY company on the planet who offer such a warrenty i will match it.
By this i mean, they have to have been offering such a warrenty for the past 6 months and not an offer starting today or tommorow.
I have been in the motorsport trade for years and never come accross this or anything like it.
Too many factors come into play.
What i will do though is offer you a guarantee that you buy a chip or have a car mapped and then if in the next 4 weeks you go to a rolling road centre or tuning centre and they can say the chip or map i supplied is making the car overfuel or underfuel directly then i will give a full refund and also refund the cost of the rolling road session and all expenses associated with it.
Now thats an offer no one will give you.

Jayson are your chips detectable at service by the dealer?

Presumably the remapped ecu's rather than the replaced chips are more obvious to a dealer?

You wont see a chipped ecu at service or a mapped one as the vin number/ews number and key number are not altered or removed or redirected.
Only a section of the code is changed which is not looked for at service.

Ok this is all starting to sound pretty interesting to me too ...wouldn't mind getting some better fuel economy out of my 525 sport as well as a bit more punch ...
I have read the above posts and im pretty sure i understand it all but can someone just clarify what risks im running if i decide to get a chip installed ??
Also chippeduk i know you would need my ECU number but can you give me an approximate figure of how much a chip would be for my 1991 525i sport ?? and what exact benefits I would get .
Its xmas bonus time soon so i might be time to spend some money on my baby
