Topic: Viper 2 from Chipped UK! Posted: 16-October-2004 at 16:16 |
Impressive results with the Viper 2 fast road chip in my E34 525 Sport M50 24v single Vanos (ECU No 0 261 200 413). All round improvements: Much easier to drive round town (London rush hour etc), better top end, raised rev limit and with no apparant loss in fuel consumption (I'm still on my first tank so it's to early to say). Also if you have a later E34 with security coding they'll need your old chip or ECU to replicate the code on the new one because it wont start without it, so be prepared to be without your car for a while and send it via special delivery with insurance for a grand cos if it gets lost in the post your in difficulty and will need an expensive trip to BMW.

Had a run up to Yorkshire this weekend and had my best MPG figures on the way back at just under 29 to the gallon! This was at three figure speeds with one traffic jam on the M1 and heavy traffic on the M42, on the other hand my normal journeys have returned a slightly heavier consumption figure than before but this is probably because I've been taking advantage of whats available with the Viper 2 fitted!

Hi Warren I have a 1995 525 Touring with the same ECU number & am considering this mod.
Is the midrange torque noticably better as I use mine for trailering ?
Do you now have to use Super Unleaded all the time ?
Will it pass MOT emissions with this chip or do you have to change back to standard ?
Is the tickover still the same ?
Thanks for any info......Simon

The chip will not work on the 1995, you need the ews enabled version and i do have these in stock also.
It will pass all emmisions and run on standard unleaded 95 ron fuel.
Tickover is 775rpm but i can alter this to suit yourself at no extra cost.

Do you do anything for the e34 3.8 M5 - it's starting to feel slow!

yes.
i would need the ecu number though as there are 3 types and each gives different power increases.

Probably the wrong forum, but following the thread, has anyone experience of chipping an E39/S62 M5? And why are the chips twice as much as for other cars!!??

Hi Jayson
As mine has the EWS what does it involve, do you need the whole ECU ? or can it be done while I wait if I bring car to you ?
When the code is copied to the new chip is the original rendered useless ?
How much ?
Thanks Simon

hi there,
with the later ews cars like yours you need a new chip with the ews code taken off your original chip and written to the new chip with the performance chip software.
this can be done in 1 hour and will give excelent results (seen 17hp+ many many times) and costs £125 as this is a personal map for each car alone and not off the shelf.

chip is when you replace the chip in the ecu.
mapping is when you connect the laptop to the car and flash or programme via a port in the loom.

Right - so rather than send me a chip in the post, you have to have the car for a day?
What levels of power/torque increase then are available for my 2001 E39 M5?
