Aye it was bad what happened last time and I felt bad for Dunc and words were xchanged as the stress levels rose last time.. but we're not the only club this happens to..

Lets get the money up front then Shorty.. long running mbrs especially should get their monkey chequebooks out to encourage new members to join in.. if you need any help organising this sort of stuff u know where I am.  PM me as there are a coupele of other events being run by other regions that we may want to get in on. You can have my deposit now!

If we can get a core to pay a little more then maybe we'll have a better chance. Have you got Willie's contact details> I thkink Dunc has his number..

Crail also a skid pan so we can take our own cars and get a fee for oversteer fopr those who don't have access to private test tracks..

Crail can also do a figure of 8 oval to try drifting..

If we do another track day there - a whole day would easily allow us to try a the skid pan, drag, track and oval...all we have to do is organise with Willie to split into sessions.. that is if prices haven't gone up or Wullie hasn't been run out of twon bu the Crail folks..

We can then make sure plenty of digi-cams and feed into the video project..

I have a video of a kart with a cool engine in it.  i could upload it to stephens ftp server once it's working.  I have about 200 car vids, just stuff I've downloaded over a period of time.  How much space do you have available Stephen?

I think this sounds like a really good idea.  Much safer than trying it on the roads eh Stephen!

Filming the fun as well, for keeps and to show our mates.  Proving that rear wheel drive is the only 2 go.

my only dilema is when I burn my tyres, they will no longer be road legal - for the journey home.  So I need a spare couple of rims to swap to just for the sesh'  I take it everybpdy else will be in the same situation?

When Hamish went on his mad drifting mission in the 535i, he brought spare tyres with him.

If you're just tracking your car rather than drifting then most tyres which had good life in them before you started will be perfectly legal to drive home on.

Think the 330d boys got 3+ track days of fairly sporting driving out of OEM fit tyres.

Bit wary of letting my hands go of the steering wheel when tail-sliding round a corner, what happens if i do?  Does the car try to follow the corner due to inertia or does it straighten up and head for the kerb?

best advise i can give is go to the aecc car park and give her hell there.

Ideally I would like to leave my old tyres on the figure of 8 in liquid form!

remember I'm from Aberdeen and want to get my moneys worth.

erm, kind of.  That was actually 3 different sets of tyres

Where it goes pete tong for the tyres is if you get bored with driving fast round the track and try and improve your drifting skills

Guys,

Thanks for getting the motivation going but now that we've got a plan let's stick to it. I'm more than happy to take people's money for an earlier track day if there is interest, however, before I do I would like at least 15 names on the forum that are willing to commit to a particular day (at Tommy's discretion) and pay up front. Start a sticky and get the names on it, meanwhile I'll contact Willie and get this years dates and the latest prices and pass this onto Tommy so that he can make a call about when would be best to hold the event.

Thanks,

You have my name. Let me know when you want me to pay up.

Tommy.. happy to help.. let me know. Plz start a thread and let's get some names down.. if we go for a combined skid/track/thrash event then we shoudl cater for a range of tastes. Canvass Willie and see what costs are tho he tends to be reasonable.. not sure if it's just a drag strip at Edzell. If it also had a tarck then that would suit our Northern brethern too.
