The garages behind the car would all have to be full of spares to make his Buy It Now worthwhile.

Yeah, I found my way here. I thought there was an E23 forum for the BMW drivers with an eye for the finer things in life.

As to the dog reference:-

My dad - greyhounds (9 of at the moment I believe).

Me - huskies (3 of) [However, adult dog and bitch getting jiggy so puppies to be expected].

Flat caps, a man would be naked without one. It's worth keeping a spare in a pocket as an extra precaution.

You forgot about the lard too. A multipurpose product - ideal as a mid morning snack when kept in that bottom desk drawer (it also collects all the loose staples and paperclips); can be used to enhance the tan when nipping to the fish shop on those all too infrequent hot summer days, makes the best chips too; perfect for E23 door hinges. Makes for lively debate when its virtues are extolled to any dietician. A couple of bites off a block before a session on the beer stops that vindaloo from constipating you too.

Simon

Vindaloo is the world's favourite laxative, so unlikely to cause constipation

Ahh! So the lard isn't necessary for that then. It must be an old wife's tale.

car is fit for landfill as hiaboy would say, or would make a good spares car.wheels look naff, colour is naff, never bid for a e23 more than £100 as thats all they are worth. e23 cars are as ag says only for smoking around on a sunday morning or looking at bmw shows. if you happen to have a good one thats totaly imaculate its worth keeping.

The only E23 worth having is a mint, low mileage car
with full history on which everything works. It can be a
manual 728i, it doesn't really matter. But a high
mileage example with rusty bits is just a piece of
rubbish which will continually leak oil and water
(both out and in) and break down.

The L&C 728i which had only done 30 (thirty) miles
from new sold for £3000. On that basis, the one on
ebay is worth 45 pence, not that I would pay anything
like that for scrap. This country is brimming with
good cars for not much money, so why would
anyone want to rescue garbage like this? Sorry, but a
doggy E23 is about as classic as my 15 year old
fridge and not quite as useful.

These cars will NEVER, EVER be valuable.

bmw 1066 has got it just right.

The E23's are all knocking on a bit now and whilst there are still some rubbish ones around (and I've got one of them) there are some that have been looked after (I've got one of them as well). The tatty ones will all be crushed, melted down and turned into barbeques in the next few years as rob says.

Whether their values will ever be higher I doubt it.

I've put about a hundred miles on the 728 this week and it was a bit of a disappointment to get back into my 12 month old A6 yesterday. The E23's still drive fine when they're in good nick and whilst all the doubters out there continue to shout them down we can pick up cheap parts.

My business partner is driving a 52 plate 318i estate as a temporary car until next month and he says that he prefers the E23.

Rob, I have a 735i in the same colour Cosmos Blue. its not too naff in the flesh. its a sort of silvery blue and will polish up a treat. the ebay car looks pretty clean in the pics, I would want to check it over for myself before declaring it landfill or worth saving. pics can make almost any car look reasonable. the rims are too modern for an E23 but will sell nicely on Fleabay. the car comes with a hoard of spares as well. if it was closer I'd take a gander.

are most e23 cars landfill YES. as andyboy says the only ones worth saving are minters. theres nothing wrong with driving crud around, as long as your in the AA or RAC to get you home.or if you get fedup with it dump it on the side of the road or phone hiaboy for a price.
