What exhaust do you need, the whole lot, or a certain part of it?
I have one here, it's for a later 735 but should be OK, from the centre box on, pm me if you fancy it! If not it will be used on my B10. |

Well, gearbox man drove it today and thinks it is a breathing problom
as the gear box works very well, he thinks the exaust is blocket up
witch would explain the heat in the engin bay and blowing manefould
coming back so I am on the hunt for a exaust to see if this is the
problom hope so. but a lot easer than gear box, pheu

Oh I don't know. My 733i was vicous on fuel - 20 mpg
was all you would get on a run - that's because it was geared at about 20mph per 1000 revs. The later ones were about 28 mph/1000? |

it'll be a shame to convert it to a 4sp, as 3spds must be quite rare these days.

plenty of ancient E24's on fleabay being broken up, as AG says. 3 speed auto box from a 635 should be just right for the Red Baron??? Imagine an E24 being used as a donor for an E23. AG turns orthodoxy on its head. you are a radical AG. Mark, could you get a 4 speed ZF to fit the Red baron? not sure if the rear diff would need to be from the 4 speed car also? prop shaft etc etc. laserchrom boys should know answer to this query, or may be able to source a 3HP22 for you.

This regular e-Bay trader, Steve Crampton is a well-known specialist E24 Six dismantler up in North Yorkshire, and I know he happens to have some pre-May '82 Six parts. Ask him whether he has things like: ZF 3HP22 autobox (3-speed) or 5-speed dogleg manual box He may just have what you want.... |

if there is a problem, as Horsetan pointed out, there were a lot of 6's supplied with the 3 spd box, so maybe we can find an old 6 that ca release it's box?

Mark, its a lot of money to spend for sure; get the Red Baron checked over, and talk in depth to the gearbox rebuilder. take your time to make your mind up. At the end of the day, its your car & your bread, so you must do what is right for you. I have spent FAR too much $$$$$ sorting out VJ and the $$$$$ are still being spent, so I'm in no position to lecture to you about being prudent. I am an old E23 nutter all right. Patrick decided to have his smashed E23 rebuilt, so he's a nutter also let us know what the gearbox bod says. |

no mark, its being kept now, changed my mind, its worth getting your box done, not many sharknose models left, if you got a second hand box, chances are it would be shot anyway, or on the way.
