Hi. Well, thing is, ive had no time/ motivation to do car type stuff lately, iv'e got/ had ill/ departed family to contend with.

The only time ive seen car is from a distance. its in a bodyshop+ i can't get to it before closing time, till friday.I'm taking up m3ag on his wheels, but can't decide whether to brave fixing the wheelarch+ a couple of other scabby bits, then getting ALL the doors painted.Or just to do door for now+ use it.theres also the money side of things....

£700?????

Sorry, but even spending £450 is madness. A good
used gearbox is about £100 worth - keep looking
and you WILL find one. There were so many of these
things built.

no mark, its being kept now, changed my mind, its worth getting your box done, not many sharknose models left, if you got a second hand box, chances are it would be shot anyway, or on the way.

Mark,

its a lot of money to spend for sure; get the Red Baron checked over, and talk in depth to the gearbox rebuilder. take your time to make your mind up. At the end of the day, its your car & your bread, so you must do what is right for you.

I have spent FAR too much $$$$$ sorting out VJ and the $$$$$ are still being spent, so I'm in no position to lecture to you about being prudent. I am an old E23 nutter all right.

Patrick decided to have his smashed E23 rebuilt, so he's a nutter also

let us know what the gearbox bod says.

if there is a problem, as Horsetan pointed out, there were a lot of 6's supplied with the 3 spd box, so maybe we can find an old 6 that ca release it's box?
