This regular e-Bay trader, Steve Crampton is a well-known specialist E24 Six dismantler up in North Yorkshire, and I know he happens to have some pre-May '82 Six parts.

Ask him whether he has things like:

ZF 3HP22 autobox (3-speed)

or

5-speed dogleg manual box

He may just have what you want....

plenty of ancient E24's on fleabay being broken up, as AG says. 3 speed auto box from a 635 should be just right for the Red Baron??? Imagine an E24 being used as a donor for an E23. AG turns orthodoxy on its head. you are a radical AG.

Mark, could you get a 4 speed ZF to fit the Red baron? not sure if the rear diff would need to be from the 4 speed car also? prop shaft etc etc.

laserchrom boys should know answer to this query, or may be able to source a 3HP22 for you.

it'll be a shame to convert it to a 4sp, as 3spds must be quite rare these days.

Oh I don't know. My 733i was vicous on fuel - 20 mpg
was all you would get on a run - that's because it
was geared at about 20mph per 1000 revs.

The later ones were about 28 mph/1000?

What exhaust do you need, the whole lot, or a certain part of it?
I have one here, it's for a later 735 but should be OK, from the centre box on, pm me if you fancy it!
If not it will be used on my B10.
