12 is no age for a horse, have you tried him in 3 day events? I would think he could be a tidy eventer, specially the cross country. My cousin used a hackamore when she took Aladin into 3 day events, found that he was far more responsive using it.

I've always wanted to ride a steeplechaser / point-to-pointer!

Quote Rory looks worth putting the time and effort into IMHO. He's a nice lad and oozes further potential.

That's a lot of potential for a 12-year-old!

With a little bit of training and perseverence, I would think he would make a good jumping horse, he has the build and conformation for it, my cousin had an ex racer Thoroughbred, dead lazy at jumping but tween us we soon got him clearing 6.6 without a problem, takes time and effort but Rory looks worth putting the time and effort into IMHO. He's a nice lad and oozes further potential.

Rory is an Irish Draught-cross-Thoroughbred. I love Irish horses....

Quote From past photo's of him, he looks like he has a kind eye, good natured and probably very patient too, which is a good thing seeing as he puts up with your shenanigens

We'll try and work on photos when he's lying down. Then you'll see how comfortable his "sofa mode" is

Quote Whats his scope like? Looks leggy so I would say he could, with the right persuasion, pop a 6.6 minimum.

He'll need a lot of work before he can clear 6ft 6ins! He's been doing flatwork / dressage mostly, but I have had him going over jumps, which he enjoys. Trouble is, he rushes at jumps, which leaves no "thinking time"!!

'Tis he! We hacked out this morning and passed one of those new execu-box housing estates under construction.

The show houses were complete. The developer's agent was very keen to take photos of Rory meeting prospective house buyers!!!!

....Meanwhile, up in York, a subtitle appears at the bottom of Ally's current monitor. It reads:

"Do not adjust your set"......

if you have an S-video TV output on the back of your lappy you can connect it up to any modern TV with an S-Video to SCART lead.

Imagine 43inches of Ivans pink wellies!!
