After Daves discovery of a build up of silt under the bumper end caps
on his highline leading to corrosion I thought I'd have a look at mine.
It was a bit of a knuckle skinning excercise finding the hidden bolt
under the rear light & the hidden nut under the filler cap but I
managed to take it all apart.
Joy of joys! Only a heavy dusting & a build up of wax needed removing. I cleaned up & gave it all a good wax.
The tail light aperture was ok but there was a little corrosion on the
left. The metal light surround had some aluminium corrosion so they'll
need to be cleaned up & repainted at some point. Don't know
how much new ones are. Suspect the seals might need replacing too.
I'm going to have a look at the nearside. Hopefully this will be in the same condition.
Once I've figured how it all comes apart I'm going to have the bumpers resprayed ready for a rematch with a certain '87 Alfa 75!

Well, so far. I haven't checked the near side yet.
The best bit (apart from finding no rust) is that I got to clean off
the line of polish residue that had built up over the last 16 years.
I was rather surprised to find that the rear valance was steel. I had just assumed it was plastic like the side end caps.
Haven't figured out how the middle filler strip below the lights/no. plate comes off. Some well hidden screws no doubt.

Well I've just got down to checking the nearside.
This is the state of things when the panel was removed.
A quick clean up and it's ready for some wax.
The tail light aperture was fine with no corrosion present.
Still can't see how the filler panel between the bumper & rear panel comes off.

There are two large bolts in the boot that go down through the bumper shock absorbers.Remove these and two small lock bolts on the shock absorber shaft and the whole centre section comes away.

A bit offtopic:
dear AndyS, I see You've Goodyear GSD3s on Your 635(misano red?)...
How do they work on a e24?(better than my trx, ok...Also my cat knows this.... )I was told that "these tyres on a 635 are a waste of money, cause their grip is too much for our E24s, and you can not use all their potential ..You can have the same performance with cheaper and more "relaxed" tyres....".
Right or my friend was just wrong?

They are indeed Eagle F1's (mk III).
Probably are OTT for a 635, especially as I don't really push mine, but
it's nice to have a bit of reserve when it comes to grip.
My brother recommended them to me as he's a traffic cop & has tried
all sorts in all conditions. They are the tyre of choice for
Northumbria Police due to good grip/wear balance & they are
particularly good in the wet. Handy in the UK!
They aren't too costly - £105 for 205/40x17, £117 for 255/40x17 18 months ago. Cheaper than Dunlop, Michelin & Yokohama.
Ride is significantly better than the TRX's & I like the cool tread pattern too. 
The colour is Misano. Only available on M & Motorsport Edition cars. Almost identical to Helrot Hell Red. Hammerite Smooth Red is a very close match as I discovered when I cleaned up the battery tray! Very handy.

Can You tell me the style # of those alloys?I can't remember...My brain is worse than my leaver(too much Guinness & Harp, these days...)...and the leaver is worse than my laptop..(system crashes twice a day, at least.... )

They are BMW Style 32's.
If I can talk the Mrs into it I'd like to come down to Lake Garda in
it. It would be nice to cruise around the area & maybe get over to
Como too!
