Harry Bucklands scrapyard in Cheltenham have a
732 i with a superb beige leather interior. About £50
the lot. I wonder if anyone will go there tommorow
and buy it?? Probably not!

Sorry, but that 728i is junk and needs relieving of the
leather trim and crushing. They're no better on fuel
than a 735i and are dog slow.
Hiabboy still has a complete Buffalo leather interior
which will probably go into the crusher with the car.

Cheltenham, not Chelmsford Mark, a long way from me, Gloucestershire, towards Welsh Wales, way down the M4

Andy's right about Hiab's buffalo interior - why not buy it for the RB? would look really cool man

Andy is wrong about 728i's, they're OK to drive. I used to drive to Brands for those Sunday BMW and also Alfa race meets around 1992/3 in my Opalgrun 728i sharknose, cruising on the M25 ton up - Evenin' All. whats the statute of limitations on speeding?

Andy - I accuse you of liking Alfa Romeos!!!

But why have mince when there's steak in the fridge?

728i does 20 mpg, 735i does 19.6 .

Cloth, or leather with aircon? No the 728's weren't so
bad (shocking on fuel though) but for the same
amount of dough you put in the fuel tank you might
as well have something that really does GO and with
some nice toys. I had loads of 728i's as they were so
cheap to buy but after I drove a 735i auto (an old 3
speed W plater) I knew what I'd been missing.

A sobering thought; 728 carb 4 speed manual, 16
mpg overall

A tank full would cost you £80 and get you 300 miles.
One reason why there are none left ..........
Praise the Lord!

I meant to say......the first road test in the UK for an
E23 was a Cypress green 728, ULF 401R.
I dug into my stash of logbooks for crappers gone
by(!) and there it is! According to the V5 I bought it on
1st May 1986 and I can remember collecting it fro
Westbury car Auction. My god it was rubbish, it
cooked itself on the A4 near Calne and I really had to
nurse the poor old thing back. Pinking like hell it
was. The chasasis number is 5720008 which
means it was the seventh RHD E23 made.

According to DVLA though, it's had a change of
keeper on 4th April 2002 so maybe it's still about.
It was starting to rot pretty well too!

Quote 728i does 20 mpg, 735i does 19.6

motronic 735s are WAY better on juice than any 2.8 distributor M30.

like you've said many times, 2.8i are TERRIBLE on juice. lovely engine though.

I dragged my E28 528iA out of the garage today, I'm so looking fwd to my 17 mpg gentle sunday drives

Do you like the new 3 series then?

No, it's a pig. I'd rather have an Audi A4. Or the new
Alfa 159 when it arrives next year.

board member Selephant is buying the 728i - let us know how you get on with it.

Per the seller, the colour is Baltic blue, not Cosmos Blue like your 735i.

Not really woried about the colour. Although the sticker in the engine compartment says "Cosmos Blau", & the logbook says "Blue", my car is a silvery gray.

I'm certain it hasn't been resprayed (unless it was a very thourough job). I can only guess the paint has er "gone off" for want of a better description over the last 20 years.

By the way I have picked up four doors for an E23. I only want the OSR. So if anyone wants the others E-mail secretsales@aol.com.

are they the Burgundy doors from Dave in Leicester?

Sod's Law states the day after you sell the doors your car will get dented and need one of them - keep 'em in your parts hoard.

Are you gonna keep the 728i and sell the 735i or keep 'em both?

the 728i will look lovely when you've sorted the stove-in rear bumper.

looks like it sold for £236

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=457 7866433&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Keep an eye out as these cars often re-appear as "re-advertised due to timewaster"

In the sellers' description:

Much nicer than a Vauxhall Senator-damn cheek.
