Erm water cooled, but still good fun and when setup right they handle well. If you leave the early type swing axle rear end in you get some real fun lift off rear steering for hairpins good for road rallying.

At this rate I will get barred (firstly talking about Manta's then Skoda's even though they are both cool cars ) So how good would a 318 E36 be for Road Rally's??? and before you mention 325's ect it must be 4 pots. Can they be tunned. I don't want to ask on the 3 series section as they will say that they would be ace.

Can't afford to kill one into a drystone wall or buy one.

ah.... well if you are going to be picky...
It would have to be a 318is and I'm not sure how tunable they are. certainly there will be many lighter faster 4 pots out there... tell me more about the risks of drystone walls though... took 20 ft out of one in a 205 gti back 1993 and then flew 281ft landing bonnet to bonnet on an Astra coming the other way. backfliped and ended up on the roof. walked away from it but it gave me a healthy regard for dry stone walls! A 318is is a good starting point. I've never driven one but in e30 circles they are highly valued, often fetching as much as a good 325i. Something to do with smaller engine - less power but less weight - better handling, apparently makes for a sweeter driving overall package than a 325i. Know a few guys who have had one and really sang their praises.

isn't the three litre Ghia the one that Dell Trotter made famous in only fools and horses? I remember being impressed by the 2.0S in the Professionals. Saved the career of the Capri right up to that 280 Brooklands ltd edition... Ahhh used to like the Tickford capri back then, too... I even gave a nod to those truly awful Aston Martin V8 Replicas.. Back on topic... Nice Bimma! |

Yes and my Ghia is also green although I didn't go for the pink highlights and the fury seats, but it does have a Cosworth 24V Ahh The Professionals, I had a Gold 2.0S in the early 80's, although they used the 3.0S which was much better for all that hooning around they did. That Aston thing was hideous, never liked all those bodykits. Cheers, the BM is my civilised daily driver

Imagine Judge John Deed sliding over the bonnet of an old Rover P6 like he did in the first series of the professionals! might look a bit funny in his red robes and Syrup! and what ever happend to Lewis Colins... 'bout time he showed up on celebrity big brother, isn't it? |

Martin Shaw never did like being remembered for the Profs. It was an all over bodykit that made it look like a DB5 sort of thing. There was also Testarossa one as well, equaly awful, so I won't post any pics Edited by Sarnie |

The Capri Kit I was thinking of was an AM V* replica. POW spec. from the late 70s early 80's... They had the little duck tail spoiler, were convertible and truly naff...
