Duncan,
Thanks for the information.
If I am around at the end of next week I will come over, even if it is just to spectate and pick up a few pointers for the next time there is a track day. Be careful going through Fife - that is where I pick up the speeding tickets even though I am rarely there (M9 unmarked cars)
Cheers
Brian

Costs seem to vary widely from insurer to insurer - much like 'normal' car insurance
Some members have been quoted about £20 others substantially more. It may be worth posting in either the 'Better Driving Day' forum or the M Power forum as our more serious track heads tend to live there...

Does anyone have any details of motorsport insurance for the day's cover?
Given cost of replacement due to accident and of course std. life insurance exempt clauses...

Brian - there aren't really any hard and fast rules.
Preferred route is for drivers to register and pay a deposit with James ahead of the day. Any marque is welcome. Members and non-members are welcome. James as organiser of the day has final say in who participates.
We reserve the right to refuse participation to an 'unknown' who turns up on the day, so in answer to your final question, no, the Scooby non-member is unlikely to be allowed on track.
The day is not aimed at competitive racing. It is a chance to stretch your cars (and your) abilities in a legal environment. Some attendees arrange insurance, some do not.
If you need more details, contact James direct as per http://www.newtongrove.demon.co.uk/bmwcc/crail_oct03.html
Cheers,
Duncan

911??,
What are the rules for the track day. Is it possible to turn up on the day or is pre-booking essential? If so how much notice is needed ( I'm not sure if I will be back next week).
I guess it doesn't have to be a BM. Do you need to be a member first then?
Is extra insurance needed or desirable?
Can a non member turn up in a scooby and get a drive paying on the gate. I've been asked to ask that one.
Thanks

The cars going in for new clutch/release bearing, valve adjustment and insp.2 on Monday so don't know if I'll have it back in time. I'll try and pinch the brothers 911 if mine is not ready but I'll only be spectating either way. I'll let you know for definite nearer the time.

All convertible or drop top cars passengers and drivers must be wearing a helmet to drive. I will make sure that Crail have a min 5 helmets avail should we require them. If anybody else thinks we need more pls get in touch asap.

Oooooooooooooh yes!
Sounds smashing fellas! But I have to disagree with Jon, I don't want to stretch trhe new cars leg for a wee while yet.
Well, 'til I get to Crail at least. All the ingredients for a good day are coming together like dough! 0815 @ Menzies sounds fine Duncan. Should only take about an hour and a wee bit to get to Crail from there, but we'll see.

I have an old open face helmet but it's no longer FIA.
Perhaps you can check with Crail James (???). There's a chance I wont be taking to the track on my first time anyway..(translation.. the wife might not let me & it's 'officially' her car!
The good news to that is that I go on the V5 of the next car as we hope to be adding a Porka to sit beside the M in 2 or so years time..
If that's enough then I'll bring it along.
Best

Soft top drivers need crash helmets if they are going round with the roof down - the elise boys whipped the roof off I think.
Crail can provide bone domes for the day although I think James may have to warn them ahead of time so they have enough...

Dunc/James -
Don't want to dissappoint, but is there not a rule that drivers of soft-top cars have to wear a crash helmet when on the track?
I can remember when Jon was up with his Elise he brought his own helmet.
Can Crail provide helmets?

Larbert.. yes.
Sounds good Dunk.. I like the old Ochils road though I'll be taking it fairly easy so I'll proabably sit at the back of the pack and follow your lead. I'll be watching Baz as I think he'll probably want to stretch his new M3's legs.
Springkerse Ind. Estate sounds fine to me - exactly which turning? I'll head along the old A9 past Plean and cut down from there.
Or how about meet just down the road at Menzies?

I'm Stirling, Baz is Falkirk and are you not Larbert?
I was planning on heading past Tillicoutry, through Cupar and up through the pukka back roads... Meet in Dollar if you want to cut across or in Stirling (Springkerse Retails Park) if you want to start together?

I wouldn't say 'lowly' of any BM' 6 cylinder.
Besides on that Crail road you'll leave my Z3M for dust!
I'll just be crusing... listening to Gary Numan!
Meet at the Hawes Inn? What time?

Aye come on Jon,
Get that Z3 on the track and give it a decent thrash. I'm going up with the latest M3 to give a wee bit of 'controlled' (Hopefully) sideways action. Just hope it stays dry. But Duncan's right, we need another 2 folks for the day to go ahead so it would be much appreciated by all of us I'm sure.
Get in touch, later,
