To be honest, with the inner and outer wings gone, the sills, and the wheel arches; you still have 95% of your car, which would still be pretty much perfect to drive - OK it would look crap, and let the water in, but it would still drive OK.

It all seems very odd. If you're going to do a deal "off the table" why get into public Q & A exchanges.
On reflection, I think it was someone trying to see how much the car might fetch if it actually was put up for sale. On the subject of mileage & condition, I know someone who recently bought a Highline with similar (40k) miles for £8k which I thought was a bargain but being a perfectionist there were a few little things that he thought needed doing. You simply can't drive a car for 36000 without there being some wear & tear to bodywork etc. Remember the cirrus blue car that a guy had inherited from his aunt? That had rust in the front wings even with a similar 35k on it. |

While I agree to a certain extent, what somebody said earlier is relevant too, that a couple of months sitting outside in Brighton will have it reduced to the same level as almost every other six - rotten. I think that it's valuable to keep cars like this in ORIGINAL unrestored condition, just to show how superbly engineered and built they actually were (if we can ignore Karmann's contributions). There are hundreds and hundreds of good Highlines about that the enthusiast can buy and enjoy driving and maybe restore over time. There are very few that he can use as a reference point. |

That's a shame. So I guess it'll spend most of it's life in storage. Not what BMW intended when they made it. |

Peter, have a look at the question section, seems some wealthy collector has bought it.

Wait until the auction is over, and then contact the winning bidder, I am sure they will be happy to talk to chums from the 6 series technical forum.... If it reaches its reserve.
I will be surprised if it reaches £10K on there, but lets see... I will be happy to be quoted on this later. Edited by phb10186 |

And where is the "owner" sunning himself - Nigeria???
Too many alarm bells starting to sound. Remember, if something seems too good to be true that's because it probably is! |

Absolutely. As I said, why lie about something as simple as a the passenger seat never have been sat in. If he is lying about something so trivial what other porkies is he telling. That doesn't mean to say it isn't a good car though... |

But if you're paying £10-15000 for this, a set of new
Metrix isn't going to worry you too much. I agree with PHB - this is exactly how it should look. No other wheel looks better on an E24 than a BBS X- Spoke. All that car needs is Oxblood red leather to be a truly wondrous thing. As for the legality of it - possession is nine tenths of the law. Obviously there are things you must do; When you view the car, ask to use the loo. Sounds daft but there's no better way of seeing if the guy with the keys also has keys to the house! This is the most common way of fleecing someone - the guy is outside in the drive leathing the car off , but it's not HIS house.......... That stuff about the car being serviced before collection. Hmmm - I wouldn't give the seller 10p until I can physically go and collect the car. You pay for it, it goes to Holland Park or wherever, never to be seen again. There IS something not quite kosher about this. |

That white 635 in this much talked about auction looks exactly how it should; the ride height is perfect, and so are the wheels. Anyone thinking about fitting big rims on their 6 should look long and hard at this car. |
