e30 m3 is a grand car and will always be iconic did I say its wasnt mmmmmmm, great car and still turns heads

e46 m3 holds its own as does its e36 counterpart, its just the cars have evolved and become more powerful hence the need for dsc abs etc

Yup, the stabilisers have been removed from the car...

choice... E30 M3 or E46 M3...E30 M3 wins for me anyday IMHO, at least you are a gay icon thepits.

Not to offend any E30 M3 drivers but 220bhp vs 350 bhp is huge difference...hence the need for traction control..

However, fear not my little chum as it has been known for me to drive my car pretty much unaided most times...who's the hero now then

And besides don't cars from BTCC to the mighty F1 use the aid of traction..? Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Anyway...the weathers calmed down for now and unlucky souls down south are getting it...so be careful and you!

Hmmm, surprised you don't know

An E30 M3 - daily to/from work, week-ends to race-circuits all over the country (and occasionally ON the circuits - lol) all weathers!

No electronic aids on MY car!

Cats know your every thought.

wrt the tread depth i read somewhere that when the tyre reaches the 1.6mm mark its already lost 85% of its grip!!!

wrt the road surface, there is a part of a dual carraigeway in galway (for those interested its' the piece that goes by the racecourse and tom hogan motors), this has a special road surface that draws water away from the surface and produces less spray.  its been there for years and never had any work done on it and its one of the busiest roads into the city.

bit o/t there is also a test piece of road not too far away from there that has another special makeup that is like taking 66% of the cars off the road due to the noise reduction (how do i know this? 'coz i made it!!!)

is this maybe the same sort of stuff thats on the dualler outside brechin? it hasnt needed much work done to it apart from the odd patch and has certainly outlasted the tarmac it joins onto on both sides....seems to get rid of water better and has more grip if you need to stop. admittedly it is mostly heavily sloped so this may be helping get rid of the water but i dont recall seeing any big puddles or rivers on it at any time

Thats absolute pants Pits..

4mm of tread is just over 50% used...fact. So I do know the condition of my car and it's maintained perfectly.

Just because I don't have an F1A accredition (do you?) like yourself doesn't mean that my driving abilities are that significantly less...common sense prevails IMO.

Just out of curiousity what do you drive Pits?

Err, no I wasn't actually, if you loose control in bad conditions, then you obviously haven't appriciated how bad they are, and should adjust your driving accordingly. Low tread levels don't help - but you (should) know what condition your car is, and modify accordingly.

Just back from aberdeen , All the way down the road pouring , kept to about 60 no incidents, but yesterday going north on the M80 I was about 0.5 mile past the river Carron  the road was damp but fine open right hander and I saw a "river" , not joking, crossing the road . I was doing speed limitish , hit the water and I was a passenger as I floated across. There was nothing to do but wait untill i landed at the other side , I had moved about a yard sideways across the lane and had a little shimmy to bring things back into line when I did .

Did see the road engineers at it as I passed again today but it was still a full flowing river crossing the northbound carriageway( it disappeared into the central reserve.

re road engineering I remember about 20 years ago reading about a porous road surface where the rain just pours through the sucface and drains below but it cost twice as much and lasted half as long.....................I have never heard of it being used in this country

I have been diagnosed with ADHOtS. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Ohh that's Shiney
