Thanks for the advice Mick, I've been gathering as much info as possible on the M3, and have approached a company called carsource about helping me look over in the U.K. for suitable cars also. They seem to know their stuff and have been very helpful thus far. Though I've heard that VRT has gone up on german marques that are 4 years or older, due to the increased amount that are being imported in, so I might buy an Irish reg M after all.

Dave

As an owner of an E46 M3 for 1.5 years now, I can categorically state it is not the type of car to get impatient about buying.  Unless you are buying from a BMW dealer or a quality independent that you can trust, you HAVE to get the car properly checked out.  Make sure it has had ALL regular services and has had all necessary recalls done (eg the rod end bearing recall, the diff problems, if its past inspection 1 make sure the tappets were adjusted etc etc).  If these have not been done you will be looking at major bills in the future.

Not meaning to scare you off or anything and a lot of the above advice goes really for any car purchase, but the costs of getting it wrong with an M-car are so much more.

Mick

Bloody dealers. Not to slag but "every concievable extra" would include sat
nav.

Dave, try trade yours in against Lukes old car. You might get a good price.
Less miles and a better history. And he only drove around Mondello like a
Mary.

That reg 02 MH 343 seems to be one to avoid. I've seen bad posts about it
before. I'd really check the history to be sure though. Where did your car end
up Luke?

Hi Guys, Just to let you all know I bought a 03 M3 convertible from Glen, got it checked out in Frank Kean motors and it checked out 100%. I have had no problems with the car it’s a dream to drive!

I have recommended Glen to a friend of mine and she was very happy with the service she received their too. I look forward to dealing with Glen again.

A little o/t, but has anyone noticed how much '04 645Ci's have dropped off recently?  There are a number available from main or quite reputable dealers for well under 70k, only a couple of grand more than an M3 from a similar source.

To be honest Im not that suprised. As I said check the car not the dealer. But it looks too cheap to be true.

Any one asked them whats the story. They might tell the truth.
