Hi all, got me a sewing machine noise coming from behind the accelerator, every time I give it gas.... off she goes ..... nit nit nit nit nit nit nit nit nit nit.... in all gears. what de phuq?

yup, it's a 95 318 IS coupe E36 M42

mate reckons there's a hole somewhere in the exhaust manifold

Might have blown exhaust manifold gasket, or a crack in manifold.

The manifolds on the M42 are made of different types of steel and are prone to cracking the welds. They can be rewelded quite successfully. Mine was done a couple of years ago.
