Hi guys, My car currently has "bottlecap" (maybe i'm wrong tho) alloys fitted. These come with a tyre size which doesn't seem to exist . 220 / 55 R390 Anyway, I'm looking to change to a wheel which i can readily source tyres for at a reasonable cost which will also suit the car. Aftermarket, original or replica I'm not too pushed. Anyone any suggestions? (with pics if you can as i'm clueless to differing styles or names)
Many thanks in advance Mark.

Are they metric sizes? Anyway, I tend to be a bit "period" with wheels - the ones from your car's particular era will probably suit it best. This website (posted here recently, thanks) is excellent as a tool to discover which wheels were put on which models. http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ Edit: Radial Style 32, maybe? Do you want ease of cleaning or best look when clean? RS 32 falls into the latter category! Edited by larzyh |

These are the ones currently fitted. My german's not the best but does this site offer these wheels in imperial sizes? |

Yuk. Those aren't going to suit an e34. BBS, Parrallels, Radial style 32's, or Throwing Stars suit them the best IMO. Your current wheels are aproximately 15" (just over it I think). Do you want to go much bigger? |

16's or 17's i was thinking. Most likely 17's.
Does anyone know of a site where i can photoshop different wheels onto an E34? |

I was always quite partial to an Alpina wheel with no dish... I have this on my E30 and going to be doing to the E34 as I cannot seem to track down any style 5's in SA...which would be my first choice... BB Edited by BeemaBoy |

Ben on the forum here used to have a set of Alpinas on his E34... simply fantastic looking! You should be able to find a decent set of new replicas on eBay for decent money.
ps... if you do go for E39 wheels, I think you'll need some sort of spigott ring to help position the wheel on the hub. **I think** |

I think the M-Parallels look really well, I put 18" reps on my Touring: http://www.bavarian-board.co.uk/gallery/displayimage.php?alb um=lastup&cat=10015&pos=3
Just make sure that whatever wheels you get are either hub-centric or that you get some spigot rings as otherwise you'll experience really bad vibrations between 55 and 70 mph. |

Just checking that the car you are looking to put wheels on is the one suggested by your forum name? The wheels in the pic you posted look like style 13 15" wheels from an e36 (as per my 325i) and these were not metrics. On the early e34, iirc, there were 2 common alloy wheel options, the 15" x-spokes - which I think look great on the e34, and a set of metrics that were described as TD wheels. The link below is a guide to most of the official BMW wheels. It seems to be complete from around '90 onwards. |

I'm thinking that the previous owner has changed the wheels at some stage because these are definitely the wheels currently fitted and I already have the 50 - 70 mph wobble. They are unfortunately metric though having 165TR390 stamped on the wheel itself, and tyres being 225 / 55 R390. I'll upload a pic of the actual wheel this evening. The Alpina's look well on it but the m-parallells are top o the list at this stage. Now to find a set......

Ditto the Alpinas and M-Parallels, sweet, any rim with a deep dish really suit
the E34, but beware, if you go with those wheels you'll be thinking about lowering the car, and from there on you're on a slippery slope! |

It's always a slippery slope, Lowering cars on our roads doesn't make much sense to me though. 30-40mm maybe but even that's a bit much for a few of the roads out our way. Comfort's the key (I must be getting old cos i can't believe I just said that) |

LOL I drove my 3 Series with 16" tyres and lowered suspension for the last years of my teenage life. Now, at 22, I prefer the gentle, comforting ride of my stock 5 Series suspension... BB |

The metric wheels you have I'd imagine are the ones here in the first pic. I also have a set of 17's for mine as seen below. |
