I know it's they're not to everyones taste but... I quite like the arches. I agree with you on the wheels though.

Has anyone a set for sale that would suit it?

A set of BBS was mentioned, any pics?

Ditto, what are e28 alloys doing on an E34, madness! Give the car a bizzarre
retro look, and as for those chrome wheel arch surrounds, hmmmmm....

Whip them off, upgrade the alloys and you'll have her back to her former
glory.

Those are metrics fitted to e24/28 and 23's and werent for the e34! Looks like someone had steelies before them and put those bottletop wheels on! Deffo a bad move I think!

Any chance you could post a few pics or your Touring with the Throwing Stars on. I know a guy who has jut bought an e34 touring and needs new rims.

They are being refurbished at the moment, but as soon as they are back, I'll post up pics!

You are correct Ben. The only metric rims that BMW did for the E34 were as per shown earlier on my car. (The 635csi also came with metrics).

The rims in the carzone add that Diarmuid had I think were originally fitted to the ultra rare 525ix (4wd)....

Diarmuid, im not sure those wheels on the 93 525 are metrics, i had them on my 525TD originally before i fitted 15inch BBS's and ultimately the Alpinas, they were on it from new i believe and my 90' 520i SE had them fitted too and they were 205/55/15, unless there was the exact same rim design available in metric too??

Found a picture of the ones I had in mind.  To my knowledge these and the TD's mentioned earlier were the only metric wheels on the e34.

I vote for M-Para's as was at the top of his list, but then I'm a little bit biased

I'm thinking that the previous owner has changed the wheels at some stage because these are definitely the wheels currently fitted and I already have the 50 - 70 mph wobble.

They are unfortunately metric though having 165TR390 stamped on the wheel itself, and tyres being 225 / 55 R390.

There's still something that doesn't quite fit.  The wheel style you showed is neither a metric nor a fit for the e34 to my knowledge.  The link below is to a somewhat similar style of wheel that was a metric and was generally fitted to the e28 5 series and I don't think it was fitted to the e34.

One of the guys put up a link to a TD style metric for the e34 (available in the last 2-3 years of e34 production) but the one I'm thinking of was earlier and plainer, not a cross spoke, and would have been standard equipment on an early e34 525i or 530i in Ireland or a non-SE in the UK.

If the wheels you have are style 13's with metric tyres and fitted to an e34 then it doesn't surprise me too much if they are causing you trouble!

I had the Alpinas on the E34 as said and i loved them, kicking myself i didnt keep them when i sold the car, thought i wouldnt have another E34 and i now have two e34 sports and thats only 9 months ago!!

I have a set of the original BBS 15" wheels off my sport if you were interested, also a set of TSW's which are horrible! 15inchers.. good for a door stop maybe..

But im off in search of more 17" Alpinas for the good sport anyway!
