The stripping of the M3 has commenced.

So far so good the rear panel under the rear bumper is all fine and so are the sills under the extensions except for a small amount of rust on the nearside front wing.

Gary it must break your heart seeing the car in that state..

Sometimes you've to go backwards to go forward. At least all the tinworm in the bodywork (which was hidden under paint) will be revealed and get removed prior to re-spray, just as to how much...that's a different story..(fingers crossed not much more)

Brave and without doubt, a worthwhile investment, give yourself a pat on the back from me mate.

Cheers guys will post up more pics as I have just removed the side windows.

The rust under the N/S wing is a bit worse than I first thought and have removed hunners of dirt and crap from within.

I think it might be a new wing

I love taking cars to bits!

At least you know that by doing all this it will be a better car at the other end.

Realoem will come in handy when you put it back together, I found it invaluable when working on the touring.

Did you get somewhere sorted for acid dipping?

it takes real bravery to strip a car to its component parts and put it all back together again in a working fashion, you should be awarded a medal

Cheers guys,

Its not going skinny dipping as I can't afford it. So taking it back to bare metal (well the bits that don't get replaced) and hopefully get it all back before April.

good luck Gary, funny thing though ... once you start to strip a car like your doing, and you find some rust/rot  . i find it drives me to find more, as much rust N rot as i can! it's like a peace of mind thing, just to make sure nothing get's missed

fingers crossed you have found the worst of it
