Hi all, Ive just got a few quotes to insure my 325iSE.....Cheapest so far is £1690.50 with Adrian Flux. Already Tried - Livinstones, Tett Hamilton, Chris Knott, AON, Kieth Michaels, Egger Lawson, Specialist Car Division, Adrian Flux, Carol Nash, Alexander Forbes, Footman James, Norton, ClassicLine, Jardine Faber, Tescos, Directline etc etc etc........ does anyone have any other ideas? as i dont REALLY wanna pay 1700 of my hardearned pounds on insurance that i hopefully wont even need! ANY help is ENORMOUSLY appriciated guys (and girls) |

will try Bell Direct tomoro morning (thanks) do you know a number for them? I'm gonna phone rather than use the net coz i have one of those Pass Plus thingys, which acts like an extra years NCB, and you cant declare that on the net, as the websites dont have a section for it. thanks once again! |

Webdunk, just to let ya know...i have a garage, i live in a low risk potcode, and its got an alarm and immob'.! but i AM 19, so that goes against me. most wont even gimme a quote coz its a 2.5 and im young. hense my lack of luck with the forementioned people.

At 19 I had an E30 M3, no garage or tracker. Just Thatcham 1 and cr@p post code!
try: http://www.quoteline-direct.co.uk I am now 22, and with Adrian Flux - still E30 M3. Thatcham 2 and garage, still got sh*te post code tho! Have u tried to limit the millage? Surf the net, there are insurance brokers that are really good. Hope This Helps, James |

WOW....you had an M3 at 19? nice! tried quoteline direct....wanted something stupid like £2800............ sod that! limiting the mileage doesnt make much difference to it for some reason. ive surfed and surfed...still no luck, hense why im asking on here. this is literally my last resort to drum up some inspiration. thanks anyway though

Sorry to hear that, it seems every year these people invent another way to con money outta ya! I think I have been lucky, I am one step ahead of them! I don't think I could insure an M3 at 19 now! Trouble is, all these company's that advertise for 'Young Drivers' 'Performance Cars' etc etc. You can't be two! I.E. You can't be young with a performance car! You tried people like A Quote?? Do they tell you what is keeping ur quote high?? James |

yep, tried them too! StupidQuote.com i prefer to call them! £3,210 or sumit equally ridiculous! quote is high coz of my age and the power of the vehicle basically (oh yea, not to mention the amount of money they want to make off me!) p.s. its nice to meet someone who appriciates their situation in owning such a beautiful car (most people with fast motors are just dissmissive and ignorant to their luck/high earnings/car) cheers mate |

thats what i thought! lol. nope. its not a case of CANT, its a case of WONT. if i do get unlucky (or stupid) and very carefully drive my pride and joy into a concrete wall or a tree, then my parents suffer too, not just me. so i cant do that....i did THINK about it, but only for about 5 seconds! just out of curiosity, what r u payin for ur M3? |

Fair enough, plus you wont build any NCB in your parents name.
I pay £1,100 TPFT, semi-classic policy. Garaged, 4 years NCB, Cat 2 Immob, 5,000 miles a year. I have an accident on my record, not my fault tho. I have a terrible post code tho! Oh, and that includes mods. James |

wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was told £945 TPFT....not interested tho! erm...why do you go TPFT on an M3? Surely you'd want to be covered for it if you messed up a corner in the wet??? most companies wont insure me unless im 21 or 25 (gits) this wud be garaged, nearly 2yrs NCB, cat 2, 8000 miles (its my only car) no accidents, and post code is ok (west wales in middle of country side) i cant see where they get the quotes from! |

I feel very sorry for you, at your age I had an MGB roadster, the only way I could insure that ( it was a group 6 then, a porshe 911 was a group 9 !!) was through the mg owners club, to make matters worse I was in the forces, it isnt possible to have a worse job as far as insurance is concerned.
As we dont have any insurance scheme through the club (I'm not even sure if the mg club still have one), I'm afraid it seems your stuck with high quotes. I know it wont be your favoured answer, but have you considered dropping to one of the 4 cylinder 3 series for a couple of years, just so you can age and build up your no claims? The 318Is models always seem to get a good review on here |

Hi Nigel! In response to the question regarding the 4 cylinder models of E30, the answer is yes, i have thought about it....but I already have the car, and paid a resonably high price for it (its in fab condition and its a real looker) so i would probably lose money changing cars too, which would add up to the cost of insurance from StupiQuote.com !!!! So thats not happening im afraid. I WOULD drop down to a 318iS, but I'd be forever looking through the freeads for a 325 and with the time i would spend doing that, i could earn enough to keep the 325. (JUST) I appriciate your condolences, but does anybody out there know WHY insurance companies feel they have to treat us like Afgahns with an AK47 ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

Its just your age mate, and the general perception of young men and fast cars, it isnt new, and your paying the price for what my generation, and the generations before me did, I actually think young drivers today are much better, on the whole, than when I was your age...I'm 42 Scott, not ancient yet...but getting there. I've had another idea, it wont help you this year, but it could make quite a difference to next years insurance. Have you considered the advanced driving test, its the police grade 1, without the hot pursuit stuff (shame !!). I'm actually doing mine at the moment, and I'm enjoying every moment of it, although, despite doing 40 - 50,000 miles a year, and therefore having quite a lot of experience, its not easy !! They actually have a special scheme for young drivers, making it cheaper for you, its only £85 for me, that includes the observed runs (lessons) and the test. Have a look on www.Iam.org.uk , there will be a group for your area, and despite the reputation, they are no more of a goody two shoes, cardigan wearing, boring git organisation, than we are a snobby elitest group. Not all insurers give a discount, but a lot do, and the list is growing. Just to prove they dont only pick on you youngsters, I changed the 5 spokes on my 5 series for the proper bmw x spokes, one insurance company said I had modified the car, and refused to quote me, despite the fact I'd only put it back to how it was sold !! Mines old and despite having no value I've just rebuilt it, its a superb second car (daddys toy), 4 years no claims (second car, full on my main car)),192 bhp as opposed to your 170, 3 points, wr5 post code, £170.00 a year tpft, no mileage restriction. So hang in there, along with baldness and wrinkles....cheap insurance will come. Edited by Nigel |

I'm familiar with that myself  even now at 28 with 9yrs NCB there are many insurers who won't touch me in the 328i while I remain under 30 years old.
Just think... you've got another 11 years of this  errrm, I'm not helping am I

Hi Nigel, Do you really think the Advanced Driving course will bring my insurance down that much? I reciprocate your feelings of the hot-pursuit stuff being left out..... Regarding the baldness and wrinkles - I DONT WANT TO WAIT THAT LONG to pay my insurance...needs to be done friday! Grrrrrrr!!!! |

Ring a few companies and ask them what discount they offer for advanced drivers, I dont qualify for it yet, and it wasnt the main reason for me doing it, its just a benefit they bleat on about in the magazines. |

Hi Scott I'm currently with adrian flux and paying £724 on my 325i and im 24. I did try direct line who quoted me £730 when i phoned adrian flux they asked what my lowest quote was and they beat it. You could try a bit of haggling! Nice to see another welshman!

Elephant.co.uk gave me a quote of £350 on my 328i for fully comp and one named driver.I was surprised that some companies wouldn't give me a quote though, as my wife is 28 and too young for the car (not that she ever gets to drive it!)I am 33.
You just need to keep looking I'm afraid.I too, paid way over the odds for insurance for years because of a drink/drive ban
