Wasn't a pop at M3's Davy, If the body of the car cant take the strains and stresses that a powerful engine applies then in my opinion its a design fault and BMW are responsible. Lets face it tho, there is no more powerful engine fitted to the E46 than the M3 lump. (Thats not an invite to the Alpina boys)

I dunno.

My E60 has the same part numbers of various components of the drive train and suspension as the E60 520d (yeah I know what an insult to the V8).  So the components in my car are subject to a lot more stress and strain from the traction and torque reactions from my acceleration forces than the same components in a wheesily diesel.

Does that mean mine are underdesigned and prone to wear prematurely or are the oil burner parts over designed?

Its all about ecconomies when designing and supplying parts to cars.

Keep us posted on the outcome Paul

Banging and knocking...now we're talking!!

BMW's are riddled with issues currently and in past, no matter what model you have. As to warranty and recalls, this is where the dealerships are at their most awkward!!

Right, went to Eastern today to speak to Derek Drummond the Service Manager, they've booked my car in to see the regional Rep from BMW UK and he'll decided if it shal be fixed or not, so it's a waiting game till the 12th of November.

Also he says the car only has a 6 year corrosion warranty, and he's not sure if it will get fixed as good will or not. But I don't see what this has to do with corrosion, it's metal fatigue and cracks!?

You never know, you could argue that the metal has thinned due to corrosion making more prone to fatigue cracks and get it done as a goodwill.  Is the car FBMWSH if they are even entertaining it at 9 years old?

I was actually thinking that the metal fatigue had caused some serious flexing of the floor pan, causing the flaking of underseal and corrosion?

Yip it's got full BMWSH, although the last stamp was an Inspection II by Eastern in July I think, but there's no record of it as I'm sure it was done as a homer!lol.

Back to the modding....

Finally got a set of the correct Depos for the car and got them fitted...

Before...

After..

Wasn't too sure about them at first but they're growing on me and starting to look good. Also I think the next upgrade is a set of new headlight lenses to freshen it up a little

It's the little things that count Paul, i replaced the headlight lenses on my last M3 and it freshened it up no end!

You thinkin of getting the rims mirror polished for that added shine?

Nah I've got to say I like the OEM finish, might get a couple of the rims refurbed, redo the diamond cut finish, as two have been done and two original.

Yip head light lenses are next, but before that I've got to go pester Issy so that I can figure out the exact location of the M3 badge on the boot lid, will need to measure it out to get it right.
