the perfect stranger story:

well, i work for a small computer firm http://www.a-p-systems.com in a village called Cullen, home of Cullen Skink soup (!) about 20 miles from Elgin, and I get a car to run about in for work purposes, they keep expiring (nowt to do with me!) so in my near 3-years there I've had a ford fiesta, a fiat uno, and currently, an 1990 ford escort of undetermined CVH engine size (debadged by the previous custodian!).  Typically with MK5 escorts, they handled like bags 'o' sh**e when they were new, let alone 14 years down the line, so it gives "interesting" handling.

A few weeks ago, I was "making progress" going back to the office from a job, glorious weather, overtaking in complete safety where it was safe to do so, and never going about 65mph (which gives an indication of how slow the traffic was), I had overtaken an old nissan micra (the boxy one before the noddy cars) on a straight and there was a honda aerodeck in front, i didn't have the power to get past so i moved back in between the two.  The nissan must have taken umbridge at this, but didn't do much.  The next opportunity I had (and i know this road well since i have to drive it every day to get to and from work) I overtook the honda, again in safety, but i hadn't noticed a transit broken down pulled over onto the grass... no problem, i kept well out to the right so the honda could move out (he was well behind me at this point anyway) and we all carried on our merry way. i came up behind an escort van doing 50 (as is his want, probably at his limit for vans?) but no point in overtaking as there was a couple of cars in front and we were nearly at cullen anyway... no use of brakes, kept a safe distance throughout... minor lapse on checking rear view mirror ... where did the honda go? must have turned off... the nissans nearly in my boot!  trundling down to cullen... 30 mph again no braking neat as you like... turned up to go to the office... the nissan follows... i indicate right and sidle up between a granada ready to do a parallel park between it and a volvo (never let it be said that i dont observe or remember things!), the nissan sidles up to the left, and carries on up the road.... no bother... i do a an uncharacteristically neat parking job (if i do say so myself!) and sit in the car collecting my paperwork and equipment.... windows open.... then this mental girl comes down shouting and bawling about how im "careless" and "theres no way i could have seen what was coming"... err.. scuse me love... that wasnt dangerous in the slightest, and what about you trying to fit the nose of your car in my boot.... that just wound her up even more until her voice got to the pitch only dogs can make sense of!  then she mentioned the dreaded police.. oh sugar... with me on 9 points and all... bite my tongue bite my tongue... apologies "im sorry if i made you upset" etc.  but then she said a worrying thing... "i see you in your bm and you just drive too fast, i know what time you get to work,what time you leave..."  eek, touch of the stalking there... theres a law against that... or maybe she fancied me lol ... nice body, but shame about the personality!!
