Cool ...going back to the original post I have just taken the old pioneer head unit out of my car and had a rummage around looking for the BMW connector and all I can seem to find is some round connectors which plug into a cable coming from the back of the headunit , they look like Multichanger cables and i know that one of them is but the othet 2 seem to power and control the speakers , i cant even feel a square connector anywhere although it might be behnd the OBC How easy is it to get the OBC out because I then might be able to see what is going on better . I'm going to take a pic when i get a chance of the connectors |

To remove the OBC you need to push on the lever as desribed Here but you really shouldn't need to remove it to see the connector if it is there.

Can you follow the coloured cables back to where they join the original BMW wiring loom ? The original wiring loom will be wrapped in binding tape.
BTW The connector you are holding in the picture definitely looks like the CD-Changer cable. Miles Edited by e34m5 |

I can't seem to get the OBC to move I don't want to force it Orange cable runs right round the back of the OBC , I can feel an in line fuse holder but cant feel anything that is like the ISO , the CD change cable is plugged into the head unit so it can't be that , there are 2 connectors identical on the one i'm holidng and then the cd changer cable

I thought i was going to break my clock when i was trying to remove it to upgrade to the OBC but it was just a bit reluctant to budge after being there for 13 years !

I got the OBC out ...hasn't really helped much can't see anything obvious that could be the ISO connector ..think it might be time to take it down to my local audio specialist and get them to fit it Just can't get my rather large hands all the way round the back and obviosly i don't want to start pulling wires too hard |

It does sound like the BMW connector has been removed at some time so it would probably be best to get a "Professional" to have a look for you.

Did you say that you have a factory fitted Amplifier ? This could complicate things if you are planning to upgrade.

Thats what I was about to say , from what I can make out there is a factory fitted Pioneer Amp in the boot and one under the glovebox one of the connectors I'm holidng seems to run all the way behind the OBC and up into the glovebox (from what I can make out ) the ornage wire runs behind the OBC into what I can only describe as a black box and then out again then I can't see where it goes ...oh well thanks for all the help gotta go and re-programme the OBC now

Definitely time to take it to a professional, you don't want anything shorting out and turning your car in to a smouldering mound of plastic and metal ! I have a Kenwood KDC-M9021 Mask CD/MP3 player and it sounds excellent.
