2005 Crail Track/Drift Event

 

Oh dear.. oh dear.. Lotus plastic track rockets being the last thing I want to see.. I'll PM you.. I wanted a pop at the CSL not be lapped 50 times by an airfix kit with an engine..

In skilled hands sure but on a tight twisty track like Crail.. very easy to go very quickly in the Elise..

I'd have much rather follow you up pit straight.. power to weight of the 2 cars being about the same now.. and lose your tail on the twisties.. just need to mod the final diff to get similar gearing at the top end.

Elise.. I'll let ya past on the twisties and catch you back up on the back straight...only to let you go by again... yada yada yada..

If only Elise available Paul then, as much as it pains me to say it.., just bring it along.. all mbrs welcome.. bimmers more welcome than most..

Yes Neil.. but I made no reference to "racing".. quote me I'm wrong (I'm sure you will try).

Me thinks you're confusing banter...  Of course everyone (who goes on BDDs and track days) likes to see how they stack up against others and I was clearly describing the different abilities of the Elise vs. ZM. One is a track-biased lightweight.. the other heavier road-biased muscle. And I mean the cars..

BUT you are right.. the main aim is to have fun while being courteous to others, not racing. Please see the guide on the appropriate thread.

We of course appreciate your taking photos at such events but does your input here mean we can expect to see you out on track..

What might be fun, is one of those electronic gizmos that measures the 0-60 times and 1/4 miles, apparently they are quite accurate, i bet most peeps would be on for that. I believe they can be bought for 50 quid, maybe set up a pay pal, 5 quid each kinda thing, then it belongs to the club.

I've got one of the said "Gizmo's" and I've asked people many times if they wanted to use it, for a small fee on the day for club funds and got no answer.

I'll make sure it's available for this event. I think that all I require is the weight of your car as it stands (including petrol and passengers) and once's that's been inputted we're off. The machine can give 1/4 mile times, max G and 0 - 60 etc....

Jon, can you pls include on your list of drivers for the day those who would be willing to pay £5 to have use of the "Gizmo" as it's now affectionately called. Thanks.

I'll probably have one with me on the day as well. R8 MTC bought one a little while ago and I'm trying to presude him to join our Crail day. The problem with the ones that plug into your lighter socket is that they take ages to calibrate and I remain a little sceptical of accuracy. Best way is to use a GPS-type device or else a proper TAC with track side sensor.

Paul - what did you make of them - how long did it take you to calibrate to get it accurate..?
